With beaches, boating, and salmon fishing in Michigan City and Gary bordering Lake Michigan, there is more to Indiana than might appear at first glance. The agricultural heartland even has cross country skiing and snowmobiling to go with the Cornball Express. Southwest Indiana near Evansville is renowned for the well-preserved Native American Angel Mounds State Historic Site. The largest city and state capital is famous worldwide for its Indianapolis 500 race. Even locals living in the suburbs often overlook the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Eiteljorg Museum, NCAA Hall of Champions, the old Union Station museum cluster, and downtown Canal Walk, to name but a few landmarks. South Bend is synonymous with the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.
Forested Nashville’s art colony fame dates to the early 1900s when Impressionist Theodore Clement Steele overwintered in The House of the Singing Winds. It is now the T.C. Steele State Historic Site. View paintings and sculpture at the I.M. Pei-designed Indiana University Museum of Art. Attend an IU sports event or an opera, ballet, concert, or theater performance. Treat the family to The Little Nashville Opry or The Bill Monroe Bluegrass Park. For healing mineral springs, head south to Orange County, Indiana’s spa resort center.
Enjoy golf, fishing, boating, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, and ice skating in the nation’s agricultural heartland. Monticello and Rensselaer are west of Logansport and north of Lafayette. Take the family on the Cornball Express and Hoosier Hurricane at the Indiana Beach Amusement Resort in Monticello. Play boardwalk carnival games, or let the kids loose on the go-carts. Pile the family into their vehicles for an old-fashioned movie experience at Monticello’s Lake Shore Drive-In. Indulge in a weekend dinner boat cruise to hot band sounds as the Madam Carroll plies Lake Freeman.

We specialize in arts and crafts. We make Monroe Dutcher style baskets, animal puzzles and nativity scenes.
These hand-crafted baskets are amazing! We visited their little shop, located between Middlebury & Shipshewana (not hard to find at all). Almost all of the work is done by the Amish lady who owns it & a couple of younger Amish girls who work with her (when they have really big, heavy pieces of wood to handle, a couple of Amish guys do that for them). Besides baskets, 1 of the girls does exquisite scroll saw work. I bought 2 baskets & 1 scroll saw item. Considering the quality & attention to detail, prices are very reasonable. I much prefer Teaberry baskets to the Sonshine baskets (which are more of a traditional woven basket) because the Teaberry baskets are more heavy-duty & have a nice, thick wooden rim around the top with built-in handles. Also with the Teaberry baskets, no 2 are exactly alike & each basket is signed, numbered & dated by the maker. If you are interested in Amish baskets, this place most definitely deserves a look!

Visitors to this site can see how Amish cheese is made.
Heritage Ridge is one of our favorite stops during our annual trip to Shipshewana. There's a large variety of cheese available for purchase and we usually buy 7-8 kinds. Note: no tasting during the Covid restrictions but just ask one of the friendly employees for help.

i have never been to the "factory" i always go to the retail store where you can find childhood candy that you cant find in any store. i have heard that you can purchase non-perfect candy at the factory at a reduced price. i am also afraid to go to the factory(afraid of gaining weight)

35 Acre u-pick blueberry farm open July and August. Reasonable prices, follow up with a swim on lovely Lake Michigan beaches nearby. Great summer outing for the family! Family owned and operated since 1942.
This is a fantastic family experience. This family owned farm has multiple varieties of blueberry bushes which ripen at different times so berries are plentiful. The web site is updated daily during picking season enabling planning to pick your favorites. Staff is available to direct everyone to the sweet, tart, large or small varieties that are ripe when you arrive. Buckets are provided for picking in two sizes. Bring a length of rope if you would like to wear the bucket for two handed picking! The best berries are not necessarily next to the parking lot - so be prepared to walk a bit as the farm is large! Fields and the rows are mowed for easy picking. Helpful hint - boxes to bring home are available - but bring your own Tupperware for easy storage on the ride home. Ready to purchase are limited available. Bushes have berries low enough for children to pick with ease. Fields are wide open so hat, sun screen and plenty of water are helpful. Picnic tables are available to bring a lunch, as well as a few porta potties, and a hand washing station. Also available are honey and syrup. For COVID - masks are not required. The farm is huge so it is very easy to socially distance while picking. During our visit everyone in line to purchase maintained a distance. Cost is per pound and very reasonable. No charge per person, only pay for what you pick!

As a result of watching Smoking Goose profiled on TasteMakers, I decided to order some of their meats. Being a first timer, I chose 6 different options. It's free shipping with a $75 purchase. My first shipment (to 115 degree Phoenix in the summer) came too warm so I gave them a call. The gentleman I spoke to on the phone was very apologetic and reshipped the spoiled items. I got them quickly and this time it was all good. We couldn't wait to give some of the sausages and meats a try. Everything was absolutely delicious. We had the Capocollo Di Dorman, Rosette de Lyon and the Salame Cotto last night. Wonderful. We can't wait to give the other meats a try. This is the highest quality salumi I've ever experienced.
