NOTE: WE ARE CURRENTLY ATTENDING DURING COVID, ASKING ALL CLIENTS TO WEAR MASKS and SOCIALLY DISTANCE. Miguel Andrango and his family demonstrate the fascinating traditional yarn spinning and backstrap-loom weaving process for visitors. After the demonstration, visit their gallery where you can purchase beautiful weavings to remind you of your Ecuadorian experience. DIRECTIONS TO THE WORKSHOP: Option 1, from Cascada de Peguche: take the road from Cascada de Peguche (waterfall) to Lago San Pablo. At the top of the first hill, take a left toward Agato. At the first intersection (Agato's main street), turn left. The workshop is one and a half blocks down on the left. Option 2, from Quito: turn right at the Espejo stoplight. After you cross a bridge, take your first left toward Cascada de Peguche. At the top of the hill, turn right toward Agato. At the first intersection (Agato's main street), turn left. The workshop is one and a half blocks down on the left.

Please could you change my address, we have been waiting since the 1st week of July. The English Bookshop has moved to Venezuela N8-42 and Manabi, OLD TOWN (Historic Centre), Quito, Ecuador.
This is a wonderful bookstore, and Mark, its owner, is a delightful conversationalist and knowledgeable source on good reads, and life in Quito. We very much enjoyed our visit and finding a good book to read during our trip.

A very special Ecuadorian "treasure house" of memories and gifts from this country-- I love this place! This quality is beginning to be very rare --to find the types of work, quality of weaving, and handmade products made by communities of indigenous all over Ecuador. This sweet place with Alejandro and his mother Laura give very good service and their prices are reasonable. Go see for yourself. Highly recommended for yourself and your family to visit and buy some special gifts !

We believe in craftsmanship, in tradition, in pieces with history. Ethically designed and handcrafted in Ecuador.
The confinement due to the covid-19 has made me reflect on the little things in life and I have decided to take time to appreciate them carefully. It turns out that I have also decided to write my outstanding comments on those small but magical places that I have visited and that in the eyes of any traveler could go unnoticed. Such is the case of this hidden gem that I found in Ecuador: PIMKAY. In this handicraft shop, the hard manual work of a group of women and men is combined to create an environment where: customs, fashion, good taste, culture and tradition converge to fill our lives with little details. When all this is over ... you will be eager to visit those splendid monuments that humanity, time and history have left us ... But if you visit Ecuador, take time to think about the little details and visit PIMKAY. I think ... I'm sure you won't regret it.

The free guided tour (in English or Spanish) of how the misnamed Panama hat of Ecuador is made is fascinating. Also welcome is the freedom to wonder among the workers to see what they do up close, ask questions and take photos. The tour ends, of course, in the company store, including the room where the finest and most expensive hats are on display. Hats at all price levels are available and, even if you don't buy, you can try them on for fun. If you happen to arrive at a time when no guided tour is available, there is good bilingual signage to self-tour. Panama hats are one of Ecuador's signature crafts. Homero Ortega offers a wonderful opportunity to learn about them and maybe take one home..

Olga fisch folklore our mission is to introduce design, quality, color and flavour to our identity. Our purpose more than having a fair trade seal is of a profound social responsibility with more than a thousand ecuadorian artisans that work hand by hand with us and for us. Our duty is that an important percentage of our income be given to our artisans and be devoted to a constant improvement of the production of our local talents. Our goal is that our handicrafts reflect the amazing creative potential of ecuador. Our history makes us forerunners in the market. For 70 years we have been dedicated to our handicraft tradition, for 70 years we have been working in our mission, purpose and vision. It is now three generations of enthusiasts and creative people that besides supporting the artisans have developed and created new ways and means to show what ecuadorian crafts are all about.
We love beautiful handicrafts which reflect the countries that we have visited. This is one of the best that we’ve found. The staff is charming and well-versed in their knowledge of the locale and artisan of each piece and the Museum upstairs is fascinating, not unlike Olga Fisch herself. We had a wonderful time, adding two wonderful tapestries to our home, and buying gifts for our friends and family.
