Coral shop Irena was founded in 1990, located in the historical town of Korčula. At the same location where my late grandfather had his jewellery, today is my inherited shop. I am a third generation, which nurtures and continues six decades long family tradition of making and designing jewellery. I am proud that the quality of our design recognized as ours, and world-famous fashion designers, actors, singers, photographers, and other to us very dear people.
Irena is living beating heart of this absolutle jewell of a shop. She has such a wonderful style - professional, confident, patient and kind. We left her shop feeling great about ourselves as well as the beautiful jewellery we purchased. Such a good experience buying from someone with so much history and passion - there is a wonderful photo on the wall with Irena and her grandmother when she was just a little girl IN THE SAME SHOP. Totally authentic and totally genuine. My mum loves the necklace she bought, which is a magnificent piece - one of the many exquisite creations in Irena's shop. Stop and have a chat and if you fall in love then take something away with you - you won't regret it!

Dubrovnik Treasures is a boutique located just off the main street 'Stradun'. Here you will find an exquisite selection of authentic, traditional Croatian jewelry & unique, more modern designs. All the jewelry is handmade in Dubrovnik by local artisans who are brother & sister. They use a combination of Adriatic coral, cultured freshwater pearls, semi-precious stones with sterling silver, gold and vermeil. High quality jewelry that is great value!

Sardi family is a small family oriented business offering traditional Dubrovnik sweets and delicacies like original "Fig Salami" (of course, without meat), diverse seasonal marmalades (fig, strawberry, orange, bitter orange), sugar almonds, sugar orange and lemon peel. Also there are more than 15 spices native to Dubrovnik county like wild oregano, garlic in powder and basil, and 7 different flavors of sea salt - chilli, red wine, orange peel, lavander, rosemarin, pepper and black salt with active carbon. All of the products are hand made and homemade with 100% natural ingredients.
My boyfriend and I happened upon this little shop up 56 steps from the Main Street - the lady who runs it is lovely and very funny we had a great time trying to spices and picking up some great gifts and mementos of our time in Dubrovnik!

Keeping the art of filigree alive. "In a cramped back room lit by a single fluorescent bulb inside a tiny wooden-framed shop on Bosanska street, an ancient passageway just to the right of the west gate of Diocletian's palace where it opens to the Pjaca, Viktor Civljak sits at his workbench making magic with his fingers. Surrounded by the simple tools of his trade, this 72 year old gentle master artisan has been creating silver filigree for 59 years and is now the last filigree master in the city." Filigree is a combination of art and craft, and hand-made filigree is unfortunately quite rare these days. Made by a small family-owned jewellery shop in Split, Croatia, whose tradition spans 4 generations, this jewellery and accessories are a product of hours of detailed work and creativity. It takes approximately 8-9 hours to make a pair of earrings so no wonder many jewellers started casting it instead of doing it by hand. Each item is shaped, cut, welded, torched, bent, moulded and polished by hand, and therefore unique. Traditional silver and golden filigree has been around Dalmatian region since medieval times. There is a legend that says, when Turks invaded the Dalmatian region, filigree was one of the things they just couldn't copy to take back to their land.

Hand-made silver jewelry, coral jewelry and semi-precious stone shop
I discovered Tedi's shop courtesy of our Croatian tour guide; Tedi was kind enough to give a small group of us a very interesting demonstration into how the traditional "konavoske puce" (Konavale buttons" are painstakingly crafted by hand and how to tell the difference between machine and handmade pieces (very few shops in Dubrovnik handmake konavoske puce due to the tedious manual labor involved). Tedi learned the craft from his grandfather and the shop has been in his family going on three generations. He was kind enough to answer questions and to remake / customize a pair of earrings on the spot as well as provide suggestions. Thank you Tedi for your excellent customer service and I look forward to visiting you again on my next trip to Dubrovnik! Hvala / ありがとうございます!!

Quaint little shop selling organic skincare and toiletries, herbal salts, oils and vinegars, chilli sauces and jams. They grow most of the ingredients themselves nearby and hand make the products. The opportunity to buy affordable organic skincare was too good to miss and we bought lots for ourselves and for gifts. Another great reason to buy is because they are not full of chemical stabilizers and preservatives, just a few natural ingredients, but this does mean that they have a shorter shelf life. Products have lovely packaging too, and you can buy gift boxes, so they make ideal presents if you can bear to part with them! If we are over this way again we will definitely make a beeline for here to top up our supplies. They have also had the foresight to produce most of their products in under 100ml jars/bottles so that you can take them back via hand luggage. Wonderful great value products made with love and care and friendly helpful multi lingual owners. They also do massage here, although I'm guessing you would have to prebook that.
