The historic “Raketa” mechanical watches are produced in St.Petersburg and the shop is right in the center of the city. The Petrodvorets Watch Factory "Raketa", founded by the Emperor Peter the Great in 1721, is Russia’s oldest Factory. The Factory started producing Pobeda watches (which means in Russian “Victory”) in 1945 after World War II and Raketa watches (which means in Russian “Space Rocket”) in 1961 in honor of the first manned space flight by the Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin. Today the Watch Factory “Raketa” is one of the very few watch manufacturers in the world producing its own mechanical movements from “A” to “Z”. The movement “Raketa – Avtomat” is considered to be one of the most reliable in the world.

I stopped by here to get some souvenirs. Everything was priced low compared to other souvenir shops. The quality of gifts is amazing and everything is holding up well. The customer service really wowed me. They have English speakers working there that made shopping a breeze! Next time I’m in Saint Petersburg I’m coming here again.
