My wife and I love taking short hikes (usually under 4 hours). We've hiked in National Parks, Germany, Austria, Romania and of course, many places in Washington & Oregon (our homeland). Asking which hike is best is like asking which child you like the best. So instead of saying this is our favorite short hike, I will say this is in the top 10 of our hikes, and in hikes under an hour long, this might be in the top three. We have probably been up it a dozen times over the years, during different seasons, And even in low cloud conditions where you can't see 10 feet in front of you, this hike continues to "entertain" us with it's switch backs and bridges.

This is a great beach to walk along and explore. We went when it was mid-tide so the tidal pools with sea anemones and all the other fun creatures weren’t accessible. It still was a great place to explore. There weren’t many people there on a Saturday which was great, albeit it is January in the midst of covid. I would definitely come back here.

Big Four Ice Caves

There is an easy 1 mile walk on a boardwalk and path to a good view point. There were people close to the entrance and 1 person climbing outside the cave but there have been deaths so this is not a good idea. The caves were much larger than I expected and well worth the trip

Icicle Gorge

Reviewed By TravelBugSagar - Redmond, United States

This was an awesome experience for me, my wife and 2 kids. It has a simple 4 mile trek with breathtaking views of the icicle gorge, with enough places for that perfect photograph. Some of the sights will be one of the best you will ever see, we went into the water and it was so refreshing that we didnt feel tired. My 7 year old did the trek with ease, do not take prams you will repent. Pet friendly trek, I saw several families with their dogs doing the trek. There is an associated view trail which is a moderately difficult trek off of the river trail which has great views too. Make sure you have $5 with you to drop the parking fee for each vehicle you get. The dropbox is at the start of the treck. To reach the trailhead from Leavenworth, take the road next to 76 gas pump, it was well laid out road for the first 12-13 miles and the last 3 miles is a gravel/forest road till the trailhead! The parking has around 30-40 spots in the parking lot.
