Joey Dunlop Memorial Garden

A beautiful garden just around the corner from Joey's bar. Along side a main road but still feels peaceful. Lovely tributes in the way of trees planted by the family, Honda UK, the council etc. A path wanders all around so you can see everything. A moving statue of Joey on his bike and one of Robert celebrating victory.

Garden Of The Celtic Saints

Reviewed By 357nualat

Garden of Celtic Saints Taking advantage of the lovely settled weather over the Christmas break I headed off to our neighbouring County of Fermanagh to find some wonderful places to visit and spend some time. I had read about The Sculpture Garden of Celtic Saints only a short drive away in Irvinestown Co. Fermanagh. This wonderful Sculpture Garden can be found just to the right of Sacred Heart Church, Lisnarick Road in the Parish of Devenish and is well sign posted with plenty of parking space at the Church. The Devenish Figures are a unique collection of wooden sculptures carved out of Irish oak. The figures of saints and scholars which include Saints Patrick, Brigid, Columbanus, Gall, Molaise, Columcille and Killian, are the work of Lithuanian sculptor Jonas Raiskas. Jonas, a native of Lithuania came to work in Irvinestown in 2007. He worked from 2007 until 2011 carving the beautiful figures for the garden. This is a truly special place. The workmanship on each of the wooden sculptures is outstanding with the story of each individual Irish Saint depicted in detailed carved images on these over life size figures. The Sculptures are protected from the elements in purpose built round shelters which in themselves are very attractive. Individual Sculptures of Irish Saints accompanied by written information are displayed in each House, on their lives and ministry here in Ireland and on their journeys throughout Europe, establishing monastery's and places of learning across the world. Lighting and carefully selected music are triggered by the presence of a visitor in each house to enhance the atmosphere and enjoyment of the sculpture trail. This wonderful, peaceful place is open all year round and is Free of charge. Donations for the upkeep of the Garden are welcomed. Do go and visit if you get the chance.

Argory

Reviewed By samanthap560 - Belfast, United Kingdom

We visited The Argory after it was the first Northern Ireland property to reopened following the relaxing of the "lock-down". I was surprised to be able to book tickets online for the five of us as I expected demand to be high. (The only way at the moment to visit National Trust properties is to have tickets which are booked online.) We were courteously greeted by all staff. The number of visitors to the house at any one time is limited and you need to book a slot at the reception. There is hand sanitizer at the reception and at the entry and exit of the house. Only the downstairs of the house was open. We were provided with a laminated information sheet as it is a self guided tour although there are people there if you have any questions. The cafe and toilets were opened but we didn't use these. There is a one way system in force and on the whole most people adhered to it. The grounds were beautiful - still well kept and full of colour and fragrance. We enjoyed a relaxing walk by the beautiful river Blackwater. We felt comfortable with the safety arrangements that they have in place and would recommend to others but remember to book online first!

Excellent guided tour of this working Royal Palace - wonderful art displays, beautifully presented rooms, lots of photographs, artefacts and stories which tell the history of this beautiful Royal Palace. We also took some time walking around the beautiful 100acre gardens first established in the 1700’s, including impressive tree lined walks, a lake, hidden garden and a recently restored walled garden

Antrim Castle Gardens

The Antrim Castle Gardens site is an absolute gem and you will find nothing like these 400 year old gardens anywhere else. A recent £6m restoration project which received generous support from Heritage Lottery Fund has now preserved this historic site for generations to come. The Gardens are a unique living museum, with layer upon layer of design features and planting added over the centuries. Indeed, rarely is so much history preserved on one site. The many exceptional features include the ancient Motte, the Large Parterre, the Yew Tree Pond and the Pleasure Gardens.

Fantastic setting, with walks for all the family. There is a vast array of wildlife within the grounds, and a 1km riverside walk adjoining. If you're feeling a little peckish, there is c cafe on site, which serves nice food.

Bangor Castle Walled Garden

Reviewed By Sid8775 - Ipswich, United Kingdom

Whilst at the Starbucks a short hop up the road at the retail park we saw this on the map. So glad we came, it was beautiful, and also the car parking was plentiful and free. The gardens are kept tip top & looked amazing. There are benches around the outside where we sat for a while in the warm sun shine. Another nice thing was there was no issue with young children playing on the grass and running around, great to hear the laughter. There’s a small cafe with toilets too. If you are up for relaxing with a coffee, with a book and sitting in the sun this is right up your alley.
