10 Fun Activities & Games in City of London That You Shouldn't Miss

August 7, 2021 Kelli Reichel

The crown jewels, Buckingham Palace, Camden Market…in London, history collides with art, fashion, food, and good British ale. A perfect day is different for everyone: culture aficionados shouldn't miss the Tate Modern and the Royal Opera House. If you love fashion, Oxford Street has shopping galore. For foodies, cream tea at Harrod’s or crispy fish from a proper chippy offers classic London flavor. Music and book buffs will love seeing Abbey Road and the Sherlock Holmes Museum (at 221B Baker Street, of course).

Had a brilliant experience at this gaming bar. The staff were super friendly, especially Lem who was super enthusiastic and talked us through the COVID-19 procedures and all the games available to us. The pizzas are delicious with great drinks too including the Parma violet and gin shot of the day! Only other comment is that the games available were quite limited. Would love to see more variety of games including Tekken and NBA Live.

Outscape Games

The Outdoor Escape Experience. A multiplayer, augmented reality adventure in the streets of London. Solve puzzles, uncover city secrets and outsmart your opponents before time runs out! Imagine an escape game with no walls, played in the streets of London. We’ve kind of turned the city into a big virtual escape room where puzzles combine real city landmarks with Augmented Reality objects.

Bought this as a birthday gift for my partner as part of our trip to London. He absolutely loves the challenge of escape rooms and is a tech geek, so this really was the perfect gift! We arrived at the location and were greeted by a friendly gentleman representing the company at the busy lounge of the hotel. He explained the plot of the game and gave us a breakdown of how it works along with some tips, showed us a demo and then answered any questions we had. We were then given an iPad and the experience began. The game took us around the vicinity of St. Paul's Cathedral, the Bank of England Museum and even to the Guildhall - we explored places we would never have thought to go out of our way to experience. The missions in the game had mixed levels of difficulty, so we we felt challenged at all times and had many a debate on how to approach the missions. I enjoyed the simpler game like challenges while my partner enjoyed the augmented reality aspects. The game isn't designed to be finished but we accomplished the 3 main missions and succeeded in many of the optional missions and extra points challenges. There were a couple of curve balls and speaking to the host afterwards made us realise we were so close to cracking them! You have a full 2 hours of actual gameplay time, which makes for good value as typical escape rooms only last an hour at best and aren't cheap. I enjoyed the use of technology, it wasn't too difficult to grasp, great for technophobes - there were a few glitches with one of the augmented reality challenges but the host told us how to reset it when we were given our brief. The 2 hours went by incredibly quick, but I guess time flies when you're having fun! This was definitely the best escape game experience I've ever had, I'm not sure regular escape rooms will cut it for me anymore. Once the 2 hours were up we headed back to the hotel where the gentleman was sat in the same spot. He asked us how it went and we ended up chatting to him for almost an hour! He was a great host and offered to buy us hot beverages. Speaking to him made me all the more grateful for the experience, he told us about how he started up the venture and his plans for expansion, the challenges and successes and I felt all the more satisfied knowing I did my bit to help a small business to achieve their dream. We thoroughly enjoyed it as a single team of 2, but it'd be more exciting if we had another team to compete with. Next time round we'll definitely be bringing our competitive friends and might make things interesting with a wager. I would definitely recommend this experience and I'll be doing this again when they release the new game! Thank you to the host for an unforgettable experience and excellent customer service!

Had the best time here, easily one of the MUST dos in all of london - great for dates, a day out with friends, family, work team building, whatever! The drinks are really yummy and for a change, fairly different options are available. The pizza is really, really great! Rustica base with some really delicious toppings on offer and amazing sauces and blends - again for a change some different options or classic favourites available. We loved it! The staff are friendly but not over the top, they don't watch you or hang around constantly which I think is really nice! They explain everything and check on you every so often and if you need something, the screen system you get at your ochey is really simple to use and quick! I love the little things on offer here too, as silly as it sounds - your "story" throughout photos and boomerangs that you can get via the screen and playback options. Lots of different game choices. I cannot wait to return and in fact booked again recently for later in the summer (once lockdown/quarantine is lifted - fingers crossed)! This is up there with one of the best activities to do in London! Also super cool and quirky decor and theme throughout, it was kept clean and tidy too (which can't be easy when it gets busy and has lots of nooks and crannies and paintings etc). We also noticed (when thinking of returning with family, it is very, very accommodating for those less physically able without compromising any of the experience!)
