Great place for a short stop in Transnistria. Very different from Tiraspol or Bender town, nothing about guns and tanks :). THE VIEW FROM THE BELL TOWER IS AMAZING! - Just 15 km from Bender town, good road and quite easy to find, if you have a GPS.

We caught the train at 07.09 from Chisinau Station (return 21.10) for £4 each. Most of the Communist era buildings are still in pristine condition in 25th October Street. It is about 20 minutes walk from Tirasopol station.Dont forget your entry visa at the counter as you enter the ticket hall.Jus to the right of the station exit is a currency exchange to pick up Transdnistrian roubles. We struggled to spend £25.We saw the Suvorov Monument,Tank Monument,House of Soviets,Supreme Soviet,The Christmas Cathedral and lots more.We stopped for breakfast in the lovely Vita Dolce cafe.We the caught the 19 bus to Bendery to see the splendid rebuilt Bender Fortress-be careful have small notes or you will be chucked off like us!The fortress and Bendery are very interesting.Go in the fortress cafe for a 3 pint bottle of Baltika 7!We spent our last notes in the Locomotive bar outside Tirasopol station with the locals and Helen the owner.

I must say I am surprised by the low reviews. If you come to Tiraspol aren’t you looking for some Soviet memories... there is a Lenin statue here and the sign says what it is. You are free to take photos.

I don’t know what I love better about Moldova… The wine is the best in Eastern Europe, you can find a crazy oddity called bread beer here which you better try because you’ll never find it anywhere else, and the loyalty to the Soviet era still lives on… The tank is living proof! There is a two block area that has a couple lovely monuments saluting Moldovan troops and the city is quite walkable… Right behind the state building is a cool market and then you can walk around town to find tasty restaurants with local Moldovan wine… It’s absolutely worth the day trip here!

This is a government building of a country that don’t exist and it’s a superb visual spectacle most worth 5 stars
