Absolutely lovely place to explore by foot or by car. Had to keep stopping and marveling at so much wonderful scenery. St Joseph's Church is really worth a visit, full of colourful modern anti war paintings.

Thirsty river Brewing started in the summer of 2017 and is Bovec’s first and only microbrewery. The brewery produces small, 400 liter batches of all styles of ales. The tap house and brewery is located on the main square in beautiful Bovec situated in the Julian Alps. The brewery also runs a small, 14 person hostel which is great for group gatherings or traveling backpackers.
BEST bar in Bovec ! These guys are brewing their own beers ! And they are unbelievably good ! They trully rock ! If you like beers, you'll have the choice, as they offer more than 10 different types of beer. Just ask the team for some advices, they are super friendly !!! And if you don't like beer, they also have other house drinks, wines, good cocktails, ciders, and great coffee. We tried different bars in Bovec, and this place definitely had one of the best mood and atmosphere in town ! Perfect place to enjoy after a nice day in Bovec. They also have lots of games available to play with. We had such a great time there. Thanks guys ! We can't wait to come back ! Go visit them, have a beer or more, and ENJOY LIFE !

We walked the trail from Kobarid to this site several times while we stayed in this area, and enjoyed it each time. I think we were fortunate to be able to go when it was not crowded, as the walk to the waterfall through the wooded path were scenic, peaceful, and quiet, and as enjoyable as the short visit to the falls themselves. There is a 4 euro entrance fee for adults, less for children, and after talking to the very pleasant people working the small booth, it seemed reasonable to help maintain the site -- i.e. the metal bridges built to replace the old slippery stone ones. It's a unusual waterfall as the water streams down through a crack in the rock surface above to a crystal pool below.

* WINE BOUTIQUE & ISTRIAN SHOP * WINE CELLAR * TASTING EXPERIENCE * RESTAURANT & WINE BAR Visit us... Get to the bottom of Istrian stories! The nobility and lavishness of our wine varieties can be attributed to the heritage of a thousand-year old tradition of oenology and viticulture in Slovenian Istria, and are the product of the exquisite natural characteristics of the Istrian soil, and hard-working hands of locals. In Vinakoper, we have been producing top-quality wines with love and respect since 1947. Istria has its own charm, its atmosphere and is characterized with numerous beauties which have all been excellently captured in the harmony of colour, taste and aroma of Vinakoper wines.

This can be a little tricky to get to, but it is entirely worth the effort. I'd been on the fence about going as I was trying to fit a lot of sightseeing into a small amount of time, and I'm so glad that I didn't skip it. The chapel is beautiful and in lovely condition, and the relative isolation gives a small taste as to what sort of environment it was that the folks on the front here during WWI were operating in. There are no toilets on site - there are a pair of port-a-potties in the parking area roughly 1.5 kilometers downhill from the chapel, although I think these are seasonal. There is a tap behind the chapel built into a perimeter wall that one can drink from - much to my relief given how hot it was the day I went. There's a shuttle which runs frequently from Tolmin, information for which is available at the hotels in the town as well as in the town museum. I drove and then hiked, as I was not eager to share a van in these COVID times. This involved roughly seven kilometers on a narrow and winding mountain road before I parked at the base of the final ascent. It is also possible to simply hike this road, which I saw a decent number of people doing. The final bit is roughly a kilometer and a half up-hill on a well-paved road that is set at a steep grade. It was a VERY hot day when I went, so I was beat by the time I reached the top, especially as I hadn't adjusted to the altitude yet.

What was once part of the harbour is now a beautiful town square full of shiny white marble. At the centre stands the statue of Giuseppe Tartini - the famous violinist, bon in Piran. The square serves as the mid point between the harbour below and the church above. A great place for a quiet beverage at any time of the day.

Very easy access in the middle of the beautiful nature, 5 minutes to walk from parking (PAY), very refreshing water in the shade of tries. It is a small waterfall, but it is "must" see in Bovec. Totally recommended.
