Rotherham /ˈrɒðrəm, -ðərəm/ ( listen) is a large town in South Yorkshire, England, which together with its conurbation and outlying settlements to the north, south and south-east forms the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham, with a recorded population of 257,280 in the 2011 census. We are a Yorkshire charity, championing the writer in every young person (7-18) through the joyful discovery of stories. Visit our 'Apothecary to the Magical', selling wit, humour, awe and wonder to all magical beings + an occasional human! All proceeds go to our charitable work to help us to reach and engage young people and inspire a new confidence and motivation to write!
We've lost count of how many visits we have made to Grimm & Co, but every visit has been fantastic. We have been to short workshops lasting just half an hour, or to longer workshops taking two hours or more, and all of them have been amazing. We've been on monster hunts, written songs, and made potions, but you don't have to go on a workshop to have a great time here. Even when we just call in to browse, we've written letters to magical creatures and received replies about a week later (after the post owls have braved dragons, Godzilla, and even Cthulhu and the Wendigo to deliver our post). We've chosen books from the forgotten library, we've voted for our favourite something in the weekly voting ballot - most recently Ariel or Princess Jasmine, but also Star Wars or Star Trek, Marvel or DC, Dragons or Unicorns, and many more. We've searched for fairy doors and tiny elf books, we've used the magical ability scales to find out what sort of magical creature we might be, and we've done quite well in the Lucky or Unlucky Dip. We've bought potions and lotions from the shop, all of which are great quality, and the Shop Elves are the friendliest and most helpful magical beings we've ever met, and they are wonderful with mortal visitors of any age. My son takes things to show them every time we visit and the Shop Elves always take the time to look at them and talk to him, and the workshops have improved his confidence. He asks to visit the shop even when no events are running just because he loves it there. We cannot recommend Grimm & Co enough and since we were lucky enough to discover it last summer (apparently it's not always visible to mortals) we have visited often enough to be feel like we are visiting good friends. We travel from Doncaster just to visit the shop but just along the road is Clifton Park and the Museum so Grimm & Co can easily be part of a longer day out but is well worth a special visit on it's own merit. For a visit without a workshop an hour is good but the longer workshops are well worth attending too, and we have so much fun we can easily spend over an hour looking around at the forgotten library and just having fun before we even start shopping. The workshops are great, a lot of time and effort is put into them, and theres the added excitement of the secret door and the beanstalk!

Thornberry Animal Sanctuary is an animal rescue centre in South Yorkshire. As well as adopting animals (horses, dogs, cats, rabbits and more) we have a number of things you can do here. Dog lovers can take our dogs out for a walk in the local area, cat lovers can visit and groom the cats and children can see the rabbits and other small animals. We also have two large jumble barns on site full of bric-a-brac, furniture, clothes and a book shop which is open Friday - Sunday 11am-3pm. We also have a cafe open at weekends 11am-3pm.

Clifton Park was originally the private ground of Clifton House, and opened as a public park in 1891 with house opening as a museum in 1893. The park is now the home to one of the region's biggest and best play areas, with the Water Splash, toddler zone, sand play, and plenty for more adventurous kids including a giant tower slide and BMX/Skate plaza. The Museum offers a flavour of how the Walkers used to live as well as allowing you to discover the fascinating history of the Rotherham Borough. The park and museum are both free to visit. You can also participate in a wide range of activities throughout the year, some of which are chargeable. Whilst visiting make time to visit the Granary Cafe for a light lunch or a slice of cake and a refreshing drink. There is also a gift shop to buy your souvenirs.
Went with daughter and gran daughter for a day out round the park and museum, plenty of rides water play area and little fairground rides, payable! Then onto the museum which is child friendly, this must rate as one of the best parks in the country

This place is fantastic, so much to do for such little cost, the kids were amazed! Bungee jumping, donkey rides, face painting, arts & crafts, huge mini golf, rides, adventure park, water park (fountains and paddling area), ride around the park on a train, free museum. So much to do, something for everyone and well suited for all ages up to age 12. For 4 of us it cost me £25 and this included 5 rides, ice cream and drinks. It can be as expensive as you make it. Definitely worth a visit ????????????????????????

Situated in sixteen acres of historic walled and landscaped gardens, Wentworth Garden Centre is arguably the biggest and most attractive centre in the North Midlands. Its setting, in the former Kitchen, Italian and Japanese gardens of Wentworth Woodhouse is unique. We are not a member of any buying group or garden centre chain. We are a long standing, family owned independent and as such care passionately about our customers and their satisfaction. It's a policy that has seen the centre evolve from a tiny village operation into one of the largest garden centres in Yorkshire today.
Wow what an amazing garden centre- the planted area had variety and was well stocked - the shop was amazing with great gifts os all types - the food area was simply stunning - throughout the whole garden centre the staff couldn’t be more helpful- a great experience for our first visit and will defo come back again
