On the way to Puerto Viejo from Bribri's waterfall we saw some beautiful wooden creatours. Of course, we stopped. We fell in love with this amazing work. There were some beautiful masks and animals craft out of quality wood. Frogs, sloths, mascaws, toucans... How to decide which one to take? All of them are so beautiful. We met Gerardo, he is making them with his bare hands. We met his family too. He told us something about his life and the history of the Bribri's and Keköldi's. He also told us about wood carving and how he make all this beautiful things. Gerardo really is a nice guy, it is obvious that he loves his work. I can't remember when was the last time I met such a nice person. So, after long talk we bought a mascaw and a toucan. And guees what! He gave us a gift - little mask! I can't tell you how happy I am that we stopped the car, met Gerardo and bought his amazing wooden crafts. You must visit him.

Gandoca - Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge

Bring some good shoes to hike, especially if it's been raining. Theres a lot to look at along the trails but they have roots, mud, and are uneven so flip flops will be tough. There are plenty of beach spots if you keep hiking past miss may point if you want to find one to yourself. Bring water shoes to be able to walk along some of the rocky parts of the beach if you prefer a beach walk to the forest.

This is located on a very bumpy back street and sticks out of its surroundings because of the colorful front. The mosaics are amazing - both what’s for sale and also the floors. There are unique gift items at all price points. Highly recommend a visit.

We asked our tour driver to stop for pictures and he was happy to do so. The Cathedral is likely the most beautiful place in Puerto Limon and well worth a look. Although it was well after Christmas the elaborate manger display was still up. Free but you are welcome to donate.

The hike is really fun and just getting here is a bit challenging. We had someone take us that knew their way around. I would t go without a guild. There is a spot where you need to take your car through the river at a shallow area, keep that in mind. The entrance is near a sign for night hikes.

Punta Uva Beach

Reviewed By Shakirak2013

This beach was calm and beautiful with moderate waves. Even though so popular there were no crowds and we went for long long walks in the morning. There were all kinds of beautiful tress since the rain forest is there and besides palm trees there were many ancient tress, We saw a 400 year old tree in the forest nearby on a hike. There were all kinds of flowering trees and plants: Hibiscus, ginger and many trees I do not know. There were a lot of birds and the chirping was truly amazing to here in the early morning. We could identify many birds. There was a river closeby and we went kayaking in it and it was lots of fun. Would love to go back there. Very peaceful, idyllic and serene
