Do you remeber the wolf in the Disney's movie "The sword in the stone?" Well, that's was me on my way back to the car. But Monesteroli is really worth it. The view is stunning and once you reach the end of the stair you can swim in the sea and chill. I recommend trekking in warm but not hot months; so May,early June, September & October (according to the weather) are perfect.

Peaceful village and smell the perfume which slips out from the doors and cracks, windows and paths, of this small spaces, imposant houses, colourful, this is centro storico del Paese di Tellaro; emotions I experience before discovering that a light attracts me from the bottom, I saw the sea and its horizon, and the sun blinds me; a choreography of dances, a spectacle created by the times, the village before me, the reality, the rocks appears, the market town , the music of the sea behind me takes me over and I continue to dream in this charmant ambiance of centro storico in this beautiful paese.

The Federici family, originally from Ortonovo in the heart of the “Colli Di Luni” DOC, boasts a long tradition of winemaking which had been conserved and handed down from generation to generation. The actual company came about in 1985 from an intuition that third generation Giulio Federici and his wife Isa had, through the upgrading of an antic farmhouse in Luni, they decided to mainly concentrate on the cultivation of the typical kind of vines that come from this territory and on the production of fine quality wines. Viticulture is a family tradition that has followed us since we were born: “Passion, patience and experience are the elements that our wine making is based on; we feel that we are the ambassadors of the culture of our territory and this pushes us to take great care of the environment, the vines and the people, to produce wines that are distinguished by a unique character, that knows how to express the typical flavors and aromas of the land it comes from”. Magnificent black-sand beach at the base of a very steep trail down the cliff through beautiful forest. Bring water! You will need it. How hard is it to get to? There are about 650 irregular “steps” cut into and built out of the dirt and sometimes it is slow and slightly scary going. If anyone in your party is not in good shape or afraid of heights you might want to let them sit it out. But dozens of fit young people bounded past us, in both directions, so if you’re one of those it’s fine. In any case, if you go slow enough you will be fine – it would be very hard to actually fall a long way. On the other hand, while we were on the beach a woman came down limping badly, having apparently fallen and maybe twisted an ankle. A first aid boat was summoned and she swam out to it and left that way rather than having to climb back up. How crowded? At 4pm on a sunny Thursday in late July the beach was moderately crowded but not jam packed. It is a pretty small beach, maybe 100 meters from one end to the other (beautiful rock walls at either end) and only maybe 40 meters from waterline to cliff, so with a couple of hundred people on it it looks well used.
