If you're looking for some great Florida beaches but aren't necessarily interested in a mega-resort or theme park atmosphere, Pensacola might just be the place for your perfect weekend. Home to Gulf Islands National Seashore, the city offers some of the best fishing and boating in the area. Inland, canoeing enthusiasts won't want to miss the beauty of the Blackwater River. Closer to town, the city has a proud military heritage, which can be seen at attractions like the National Museum of Naval Aviation and the Pensacola Naval Air Station.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial on a smaller scale.
The wall reminds me of the wall in D.C. Very sobering experience. To walk along is see all who gave there lives is sobering.

Quayside offers local artists a place to display their work.
This is an artist's co-op, and we enjoyed looking around and seeing the different works on display for purchase. Painting and photography were the most common mediums, but there was a little bit of everything. I enjoyed it.

Pensacola Beach is the main attraction on this island.
The drive between Navarre Beach and Pensacola Beach is a wonderful and restful cruise along the coast. Pull over into the access points and you have miles of white sand and green water with hardly any people. If people are what you want, go to Pensacola Beach or Navarre Beach. For history.... Fort Pickens is your place. Santa Rosa Island is a great place to get away

I found several original watercolor cards and pieces of jewelry that I loved. So many beautiful paintings and pieces of jewelry to see! Someone told me when I came into the gallery that if I wanted something custom designed, one of the artists would sit down and work with me. I look forward to shopping there again the next time I'm in the area.

Stopped to checkout what Joe Patti had to offer. I could not believe the selection of fish and shell food they had for sale. In addition a bakery with wonderful looking deserts and a deli area with things like crab cakes. We are in the area for the entire month and plan to shop here at least once a month.

Visitors can view wildlife and fabulous flora and fauna from one of the many nature trails in this 1,000 acres of woods.
My husband and I went there this week. Has a cute visitors center and it was a nice easy hike which was well maintained wooden path. There were two nice lookouts as well.
