Approaching from Cisco, Utah in the northeast you will traverse 10 miles of high desert plain before reaching the Colorado River. From that point, the road follows the river for 36 miles before reaching Moab. The road traverses an amazing red rock canyon with points for access to the river and scenic spots such as Fisher Towers, a must-see spot.

Great trail that gives you aspects of Arches and Canyonlands without the crowds! Recommend combining with the Pinto Arch trail, with help of Alltrails App, for overall great hike and views!

Gallery Moab is a cooperative gallery with original art work by 20 to 25 local artists. There are paintings in oil, pastel, watercolor, acrylic and alcohol ink . Award winning wood carvings, pottery and jewelry are featured. A very popular item are the iron figures cut in the shapes of native american petroglyphs. Souvenirs of the Arches and Canyonlands National Parks are available in paintings, prints and cards.

GearHeads is Moab's premier outdoor store. We have a huge selection of Gear, Clothing, and Footwear. GearHeads offers almost anything you could possibly need for your outdoor adventure. We have one of the largest selections of climbing gear in the entire USA. Wall to Wall gear including the ceiling so don't forget to look up! Come in and fill up all your containers with FREE FILTERED WATER! Open every day.
Gearheads is the best shop for all your outdoor needs, especially rock climbing. The staff is filled with superb people who are super friendly and extremely helpful. Not to mention they have the best collection of climbing and mountaineering gear in the area, hands down. Not to mention, they offer free filtered water and post it every where so you do not forget before going into the desert. Gearheads has a staff who TRULY CARES about the surrounding community as well as the influx of visitors. They have clearly been in visitors' shoes and their great service reflects that. Not to mention, their reputation holds up within the community. Everyone I have met in the creek (first timers to old timers) have said they only shop at Gearheads. After today my experience today, I completely understand why this is the case. My story goes like this: I went into Gearheads after having an AWFUL experience at PAGAN MOUNTAINEERING. The folks at Pagan really screwed me over selling me the old Indian Creek Guidebook, knowing full well that the new one came out THAT DAY. They had no signs posted anywhere in the store. They did not make a single mention to me at the counter as I continued to inquire in great detail about the Creek as a first timer, solo traveler from out of state. I went to climb later that day and was made aware by some local folks that Pagan did me wrong. These same folks told me about how AMAZING GEARHEADS is and how I should shop there instead. I went back to Pagan to attempt to right their wrong. PAGAN REFUSED to admit fault, pretended they didn't remember selling the book to me, and denied the refund and/or exchange with supplemental payment for the new book. After being tossed out of their store, I went to Gearheads. The amazing staff at Gearheads, specifically a nice guy named Jake, not only listened to my story in full, but truly helped out a new climber to the area. They did what the people at Pagan refused to do. They allowed me to pay the difference for the new book and sent me on my way. Not to mention, they have so much more equipment compared to the other stores, both soft and hard goods. They can accommodate all of your rock climbing needs. Their selection of cams, ropes, belay/ rappel devices, headlamps, draws, biners, clothes, shoes (rock and hiking), tape (multiple tape options both in size and brand), chalk, and so much more REIGNS SUPREME. They are extremely knowledgeable about the area and can help make your stay that much better. I am grateful for the fine folks over at Gearheads and I will solely give them my business every time I come to Moab. Thanks Gearheads!!!

This spectacular bicycle trail follows the Colorado River.
This is a fantastic drive. The Colorado river, otherworldly potash evaporation pools, petroglyphs, dinosaur tracks, amazing geology, movie sites and then the hair-raising switchbacks up to the Island in the Sky section of Canyonlands. You'll need a high clearance vehicle, preferably 4x4. Short wheel base will help on the switchbacks; that big ole pickem up truck gonna be hanging out over space. Leave the Accord at home for this one. I'd love to do it again.

A 30-mile trail on the easy side, winding upwards through hoodoos.
We happened to find this hidden gem on our way the Base Camp Adventure Lodge for some disc golfing. If you are into off roading and awesome never forget scenery, you want to make sure to take this route. We were lucky to upgrade to a Jeep Wrangler with our rental which easily handled the road. Outside of a couple spots with rocks up higher than others, we easily made it to our destination. Just be careful on your turns and watch for oil pan busters! Many awesome photo spots, including spectacular views of the Colorado River, to stop and take in the landscape. As many have said before, pictures can’t show the awesomeness of this area! Would/will definitely do this again.

Getting harder the further you go, this trail passes over slickrock and through beautiful scenery.
I've been riding for more than 30 years and this is some of the most fun I've ever had on a MTB. Challenging, but not too challenging; a perfect blend of rock, dirt and options. Well designed, well signed, and expertly built. Kudos.

This valley has some of the most famous and best views in Utah.
Definitely worth taking a day to go for a drive next to the Colorado river, and top it with a hike. I recommend the Grandstaff trail (easy) or the Fisher towers trail, which ends under the cathedral of phenomenal towers that were used as backdrop in many movies (Westworld, The Comancheros, etc) and are known among climbers for classical routes up the Titan peak. Even better, if you are lucky you can reserve one of the handful camping spots under the peaks.
