Next to Napa and Sonoma, this is the "quieter" wine region of California.
Livermore have a lovely downtown area, perfect for a lazy afternoon with local shops, restaurants. Outside of town is one of the best outlet malls in the entire bay area, and south of town are some great wine country event centers and wine tasting places. Its a great place to visit and even nicer to place to live.

Bent Creek Winery produces award winning wines from Livermore Valley grapes. Come and taste our current selection. Or bring a picnic and enjoy a bottle seated in our vineyards.
We went with no expectations and we were thrilled. My husband was impressed by the fact that every time we sampled a wine the lady would point to the outside and where they were grown! We bought a bottle of port at the end of the tasting and brought it home to Maryland. We hope to go back someday.

McGrail Vineyards and Winery is a boutique winery located in the rolling hills of the Livermore Valley. The winery is centered on family, friends, and fellow wine lovers. With Cabernet Sauvignon as our primary wine, we invite you to come for a tasting, bocce, picnic, or vineyard tour. The views from the tasting room are breathtaking and the wines are astounding.
My husband and I visited McGrail for the first time and loved their wines so much we joined their wine club. It is a warm and welcoming winery and highly recommend a visit!

This place is not only a great place to meet and have beer But they are really cool. We had a large group come ( about 40) the place is not large enough for this many But they have outdoor seating. It was a beautiful day so this worked. It was a party and they let us bring some appetizers ( cold finger foods) and non alcohol drinks ( cans or plastic- no glass) we set this up outside - then we had people purchasing their beers too ( important to note because it is a business and they need to make money too) I am sure they made plenty of sales that day And they made it so that we could accommodate all those attending. They have an amazing selection of beers- they offer a taste if you are unsure , they have flights and pints and they are all just about the nicest and friendliest people- There is music outside sometimes and it it nestled in a little courtyard I just cannot say enough about this place. A MUST try in Livermore.

This is a regular hike for me being just a short distance (10 mins) from downtown Livermore. The best times are spring, fall and a sunny winter's day. You can do the loop via the col between the two peaks. It's about a 3 mile loop with a 600 foot gain in elevation. Take water as there is no potable water available. You get great views across Livermore towards the Del Valle hills, Morgan territory and Mont Diablo. Enjoy!

This, with the fountain across the street is at the center of Livermore. Within two blocks in all directions are most restaurants, the Bankhead theater, the Livermore 13 theaters and several green areas. The fore mentioned kid friendly water fountain and adult benches make it easy for all. Friendly people are always willing to talk,we enjoy itbefor or after an event.
