"The Festival Capital of Louisiana," Lake Charles hosts over 75 festivals each year, the most famous being Mardi Gras, the second largest in the state. The annual celebration attracts revelers with Cajun cook-offs, a children's carnival and a lighted boat parade. The city celebrates its local heritage with "Louisiana Pirate Festival," a two week long party in honor of the pirates that once sailed the local lake. The Central School Arts & Humanities Center is a stop on the African American Heritage Trail.

The kids loved the play structure and I loved the safety features. Our toddler is a bit more adventurous so preferred the big kid area over the toddler corner, but that looked nice for the little ones.

Looking around for some things to do in Lake Charles area; stroll around, use the restrooms; pick up brochures; purchase post cards; take photos of some of the alligators and outside topiary figures. Spent almost 2 hrs. Highly recommend.

This is very nice and fun to see. It has a plane, tank and other things to see. Oh, yes and alligators in a fenced in area. Please don't feed them or get inside the fence. They will not charge at you but are dangerous to be around. And please, don't hurt them.

I wrote my master's thesis on adult playfulness, and Crying Eagle is a legit adult PLAYGROUND. There's a gorgeous outdoor stage, lawn games, umbrellas, great atmosphere, and delicious food and brews. I didn't love that you have to pay $1 to sample the beers before you commit, but everything I tried was extremely tasty and I had an absolute blast in the outdoor seating/playing area. Also, I don't go places that aren't dog-friendly if I can help it. Crying Eagle is very dog-friendly.
