Margarita has opened again and it was a delight to make an appointment to view her huge range of work; there really is something for everyone here, and our teenage son was impressed with the variety of media, subject and style. She is charming and her gallery is intimate and cosy. We bought a Japanese woodcut of St Kilda. We’ll treasure it.

The Mission House Studio

Welcome to The Mission House Studio, the studioand gallery of Beka Globe - Photographer and Nickolai Globe - Ceramic Artist. In the studio, overlooking the desolate and stunning rocky landscape of Harris, Beka’s stark photographs float off the stone walls, suspended by high tensile wires. Nickolai’s ceramics range from functional stoneware to abstract sculptural work. They are displayed on furniture, fashioned from the old timbers and reclaimed materials from the Church conversion. Music reverberates through the space. The photographic work of Beka Globe, a traditionally trained photographer, captures the both the subtle and harsh elements of the Hebridean landscape. Finding an emotive vastness, depth and simplicity, her silent images are moving, stirring a particular sense of place. The ceramic works of Nickolai Globe are influenced directly by the environment of the rugged North West. Drawing from elements of Zen and the unpredictable, his work reflects rather than emulates nature.

Scarista Beach

This was such an amazing beach, stunning views all around, soft white sands, and hardly anybody around. We had earlier visited Luskentyre beach, and found that to be far too busy and an unpleasant experience due to the hoards of people and human excrement everywhere. You can park just on the road side here, just before you get to Northton, and walk through the field, and into the dunes where the wonders of this beach then reveal themselves. We spent a magical and solitary couple of hours here, just marvelling at the views and solitude. We will be back

We were advised to visit here by our hotel. Sadly the weather was not good with heavy rain most of the time but even so the scenery and views were spectacular on the road to get there. On a sunny day it would be simply magnificent. At the end of the drive, which takes a good 30 minutes I would say, is the beach which is beautiful (even in the rain). There is a small camper van campsite there.

Love this gallery. Full of beautiful imaginative handmade glass and embroidery items made by Doug and Kate on Harris. I have quite a few items now, they are so colourful and really well made. The gallery is in a beautiful setting and the views are breathtaking x They also have lovely face book and instagram pages where Kate posts pics and videos of their beautiful island. A lovely couple with a fabulous little business, acheived through hard work and dedication. Fabulous customer service and lovely hot chocolate ❤❤❤❤❤

Stunning and now very famous viewpoint over the beach. the emerald sea and towards Luskentyre.Hardly anyone actuals parks and walks down on the sands which are just superb. It's this coastline that makes South/West Harris so beautiful. I really love the Mangersta/Uig sands area in West Lewis too but nothing beats this Harris coastline. We spent lovely times on this beach with the family when they were young so lots of memories. A cracker of a place altogether.
