To truly get away from it all, there’s no place like Ilha de Tinhare. No cars are allowed on this Brazilian island, so you can enjoy the enchanting beaches in peace and quiet. (Unless it’s Carnival, of course.) Zipline from a lighthouse, snorkel amid a rainbow-assortment of sea life or explore one of Tinhare’s five quaint villages. When the sun goes down, the energy picks up. Grab a fresh and fruity cocktail in Morro de Sao Paulo to start your night off right.

I visited Morro de São Paulo, which is an island in the Brazilian municipality of Cairú, in the state of Bahia. The region of the Recôncavo of Bahia was inhabited until the 16th century by the Tupinambás tribe. Martim Afonso de Souza landed on the island in 1531 and baptized her by the name of Tynharéa. Due to its privileged geographic location, it was the scene of countless attacks by French and Dutch squadrons and a true free zone of pirates during the colonial period. Morro de São Paulo has a humid tropical climate with no dry seasons, the least rainy months of the year are September, October, November and December. How to get there, the most viable is to take a bus to Valença and from there take a boat to Morro, unless you are from Salvador and come from Ferri-bot or catamaran. There are many things for your enjoyment, such as snorkeling in the crystal clear waters of the island, the fourth or first beach are great for bathing, hiking early in the day or late afternoon where you can have a nice view of the sun, you can visit the historic center and without saying that you can visit the island of Boipeba, which is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in the district. Usually I would wake up early to enjoy the beautiful sunrise and take a dip in the calm waters of Gamboa beach where we were staying. The rest of the day we used to meet new places and get to know their cultures. The trip was unforgettable. I can not describe the feeling of spending my holidays and enjoying the New Year with some members of my family in this wonderful place that is the Morro de São Paulo. I totally recommend it due to the beautiful natural landscape and the historical riches of this beautiful place.
