Sri Chenna Kesava Temple in Belur is an architectural masterpiece under control of Archeological Department . A must one to see in Belur. It is one of the Hoysala Temple in the Belur Region. The sculptures and carvings are mind blowing, Can you Imagine? We can see the modern fashion details like hairstyle, jewellery designs there in the temple Sculptures which was constructed in the 12th Century, Mind Blowing. We were visited Belur Temple during our Chickmagalur Family Trip, Hired a Guide, Enjoyed lot. To know the history and details of sculptures there, atleast one should spend half day there, Hiring a guide will be better to know the details of the structure and temple.

We decided to stop here on way to Chikamagalur and we just fell in love with this temple. The stone carvings just blew our minds away. I wish Karnataka Tourism would market this as well Rome markets Colosseum or Greece markets Delphi. This place is so much better preserved and so much more beautiful than the Delphi or Acropolis or Colosseum or Pompeii Just 45 min from Hassan and open from sunrise to sunset - it can make a perfectly good day trip for Bangalore if you can start early in the morning.

.
The temple is on the hillock with breathtaking views around. Its a jain pilgrimage with large monolithic statue of lord gomateshwara( dedicated to Jain figure Bahubali), a arduous climb of 300+ steps to reach which is worth a visit. People with heart issues if visiting need to take this climb slowly and take care.

Belur is amazing and well worth a visit as the carving is wonderful. It ranks with place like Angkor Was and should be on more itineraries. Halebid is more inside detail and choose the former if pressed for time

Very close to Hoysaleshwara and Kedareshwara temples. A neglected part of our heritage, older than the Hindu temples themselves - this complex is 1000 years old. Beautiful calm space, with nicely placed benches. Beautiful inside with the highly polished lath pillars where you can even see your own reflection. Dedicated to the the Jain tirthankars - these are not active worship temples. The guard took me around to see the space and I am writing this review so that more people visit this place!

Opens only once a year for around 15 days during deepawali. It is the main deity of city of Hassan. Expect very long queues for darshan.
