Lake McKenzie

Reviewed By Hervey2 - Hervey Bay, Australia

Such a beautiful fresh water lake, only the depth changes the colour, so turquoise in the shallows. Try cleaning your jewellery in the sand. I have cleaned my watch and watch face many times, that tells you how soft the sand is. So pure.

Carlo Sand Blow

Reviewed By lizziebeth75 - Wellington Point, Australia

An easy walk; some stairs (handy tip: take a water bottle) and then rewarded with spectacular views of the amazing sandblow. Kids: Take your boogie board if you want the thrill of riding down the sand dune. Great little adventure for families for an hour or two. Beautiful to watch the sunset if you’re timing is right (check sunset times)

Esplanade

Reviewed By glaitken1 - Nambour, Australia

This walk goes for miles - literally. I can't think of anywhere else in the world with such a relaxed walking environment, but complete with discrete toilets, picnic seating, regular access to the beach - and of course with a range of coffee shops, restaurants, ice-cream shops, motels and pubs just on the other side of the road. I hope that is never over-developed, so that it retains its ambience. 20 paces and you are off the walking track, and walking along the endless beach front, with a wide, gently sloping sandy beach, Frazer Island in the distance, and great shade spots under the bordering trees. Truly a paradise.

A lovely spot to hang out with family and friends for a few hours. Not as busy as McKenzie. Beautiful water and soft, white sand

Lake Wabby

Reviewed By aliciasings77 - Brisbane, Australia

The bushwalk into the lake was a bit of work but fun for our large group to do together. Beautiful forest to walk through, and by the time you get to the lake -stunning views and a secluded, beautiful spot - you’ve really earned a relaxing swim! The water is much deeper than at McKenzie and Birrabeen, so keep your kids close. The sand is so soft and beautiful here.

Drove along the Seventy-Five Mile Beach in a custom made 4wd coach as part of the Beauty Spots tour. Unique experience. Enjoyed every minute of the trip. Particularly enjoyed looking at the Maheno shipwreck. Also saw several wild dingos.

Central Station Rainforest

No visit to Fraser Island is complete without a visit to Central Station. We drove there and enjoyed a BBQ in the picnic area followed by a short easy walk along a Chrystal clear creek. The lush rainforest completes the experience ... a definite must do.

We had a great time catching a lot of fish - many had to be thrown back but we got some decent ones - if you like fishing then you will love the pier.

Ashleigh Manley Art Gallery Homewares & Gifts

Reviewed By dumbfound

I stumbled across this little art shop and clothing store whilst on holiday in Hervey Bay from the UK. The owner and artist Ashleigh was incredibly helpful and framed some pictures for me and carefully wrapped them for my trip back to the UK. I enjoy looking at the picture of the pier in my home a lovely reminder of a wonderful trip to Australia and the lovely Hervey Bay. The pictures are lovely and a bit different from the normal pictures one finds in the likes Hervey Bay. The clothes too, were lovely and a great selection. The couple who run these two shops are delightful and I look forward to adding to my collection of pictures and clothes on my return this year. I highly recommend visiting the shop in Hervey Bay so nice to visit an independent shop.
