Our Visitor Center, "Miss Laura's Social Club," is located inside of Fort Smith's historic downtown area and sits alongside the Arkansas River. Out of seven "row houses" that lined Fort Smith's Old West red light district, Miss Laura's is the only house of ill-repute that stood the test of time. Now, it is the only former bordello on the National Register of Historic Places, and it has been fully restored to its original grandeur. Make Miss Laura's your first stop and we’ll give you a tour of this Victorian mansion that has become a prominent symbol of this once boisterous border town's very colorful past!
Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The tour was free and well worth our time. Beautifully restored house.

This is the third National Cemetery that I have visited. Every one of them brings tearful reflections for the brave soldiers who gave our nation the freedom we all enjoy! To see all the headstones reading “unknown soldier” is a somber reflection that somewhere a family will never know where their loved one lays at rest. Gratitude

This isn’t a park that is high on activities, although there are decent playground equipment for the kids. Creekmore Park is located in the middle of Fort Smith, right on the main thoroughfare, Rogers Avenue. A small gauge train runs throughout the Spring and Summer, and during the weeks leading up to Christmas, giving rides to adults and kids. The park is located across the avenue from the large main library, and by a very popular coffeeshop. Consider picnicking, jogging, wandering, and relaxing in this pretty setting while near all the attractions of Fort Smith.

We had the best burgers ever here today. It's located in an old train carriage that has been renovated and has a real feel about it. The diner was air conditioned and very comfortable. Our waitress was very warm and friendly and didn't make us feel stupid when we didn't know which cheese to choose for our burgers. (In Australia you aren't usually given a choice). Outside the diner is a quirky setting of animals, Ferris wheel and an old fashioned carousel. What a great time we had! We'd certainly come back again!

On March 25, 1958, Elvis Presley walked into the Fort Chaffee Barbershop to receive his iconic G.I buzz cut that was dubbed "the haircut heard 'round the world." Since its creation in 2008, the Chaffee Barbershop Museum has welcomed visitors from all over the world. Guests will experience a 1950's era barbershop that looks exactly like it did that fateful day when "the King" strolled through the doors. Located in the heart of the Chaffee Crossing museum district, the barbershop has been restored to its condition in 1958 when thousands of U.S. Army enlistees received their signature army buzz cut. It also houses a historical museum with photos and artifacts documenting the 70-year history of Fort Chaffee. Items on display include memorabilia from the base that was used by the United States Army to house German prisoners of war, Cuban refugees and relocated Vietnamese citizens. Three Hollywood movies have been filmed here. Displays recall these and other important historical events.
