I can not recommend this pub highly enough. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and it’s the sort of place where everyone is made to feel welcome and wants to stay for just one more. Ian and Alison behind the bar are friendly and professional and know their beer. The craft beer is fantastic and wine and gin drinkers won’t be disappointed either.

Cusworth Hall is an 18th-century Grade I listed country house in Cusworth, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire in the north of England. Set in the landscaped parklands of Cusworth Park, Cusworth Hall is a good example of a Georgian country house. It is now a country house museum.

The Minster Church of Saint George, Doncaster stands at the heart of the town of Doncaster, where a church has stood for over 8 centuries. The present church was built to the designs of George Gilbert Scott between 1854-1858, after the mediaeval church was destroyed by fire in 1853. It was described by Sir John Betjeman as "Victorian Gothic at its very best" Situated on the site of the Roman fort of Danum, a section of the Roman wall can be viewed in the grounds of the Minster. The Minster is richly decorated outside and inside with stone carvings and their is a magnificent reredos at the High Altar. Do not miss the first class stained glass windows and the wonderful Schulze organ on your visit.
I came here on a cold night. After seeing it advertised on my local tv news. I love to see it all lit up outside, so it made a nice change to see how it would look all lit up inside. It certainly didn’t disappoint. The people around the building were very friendly and the lighting event was fab. Plus on my way home I managed to see the Mansion house lit up outside too. Looking equally as good.

Wow! We have just moved to the area and thought we'd check out the local garden centre, this is absolutely more than a garden centre. This is such an amazing day out! Walks through stunning gardens, an absolute must, so peaceful, beautiful and well designed. Plenty of places to eat and drink, amazing coffee and cake with lovely sandwiches and hot food. My new fav place to visit. Cant wait to come back already! :) keep up the good work guys.

The Doncaster museum is currently situated just under a mile on foot from the railway station. It is soon to move to modern new premises in the summer of 2020. Due to the forthcoming move, there was no art on display but there was still much of interest to view. Lots of fossils were on display as well as local wildlife. The ‘Owston Quagga’ (a stuffed hybrid cross between a quagga and a donkey) was an interesting exhibit. The Duck Decoy exhibit was fascinating and explained this Dutch invented concept of catching unsuspecting ducks. There were also some large sturgeon on show. These used to swim up the River Don but were regularly captured for the dinner table. Relics from Roman times were much in evidence. Danum was a strategic fort in those days. In more recent times there were displays relating to local industries. The railway, coal mining and brick making featured prominently. There was a room dedicated to the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry which detailed the conflicts and other roles in which they were involved over the years. On the sporting front, there was memorabilia from the racecourse, home to the St Leger and Gold Cup, as well as from Doncaster Rovers FC, with legends Alick Jeffrey and the still playing James Coppinger to the fore. I spent a most enjoyable hour and half browsing and look forward to visiting the new setup in the future. Admission is free.
