Daintree National Park

Part of Queensland Wet Tropics World Heritage area.

The Daintree National Park is huge. Technically it spans both parts of the river which you have to cross by ferry in your car. Forget a tour company - do yourself a favor and see it on your own. The roads were easy to drive and on our day trip from Port Douglas we visited Cape Tribulation (beach and lookout for over an hour - at times the only ones on this pristine beach), we hiked one of the boardwalks and was a cassowary and her baby, we visited the famous ice cream place and had amazing tropical ice cream and walked around the property looking at the trees, and we visited the lookout for views. That was a full day. We would have needed more time to see/do more in Daintree. Maybe next time we'll consider spending the night. It's where 2 UNESCO world heritage sites meet and there's plenty to do here but I recommend do it yourself by car. I watched the way the small tours operate and I would have been miserable on their prescribed highlights. One of the tours didn't even let them people but 5 minutes on Cape Tribulation beach - what a pity for them!

This white sand beach separates the rainforest from the reef. Box jellyfish are in these waters during the summer months.

Quiet. Beautiful and a great place to relax and watch the water and boundary rainforest. A must to see in the Daintree.

Daintree Village Hotel

There are not too many places these days that can claim to be truly, "at the end of the road". Though the peaceful little village of the Daintree is undeniably one of them. Nestled on the banks of the majestic Daintree River and bordering the oldest living rainforest, Daintree Village makes up for its lack of size with heart, wonder and a spirit of adventure... and just a short drive north of Port Douglas, the Daintree Village Hotel is the perfect place to start your northern journey... The Daintree Village Hotel is a full bar and restaurant, with a general store, bottle shop, and tour booking office.

Bloomfield Waterfall

UNSIGNED Beautiful location left after the bridge before Wujal Wajul township if travelling up from Cape Tribulation. No signs I could see indicating what turn to take to the falls, so we referred here from google maps. EASY WALK The falls are not hard to walk to see. A well travelled path and stone steps lead the way. AMENITIES No amenities here, apart from one timber picnic table. OLDER ONES The rocks can be a little slippery and awkward for older people to navigate for a great photo. BEWARE There is a beware of crocodile sign,
