Hand crafted pottery for your dinner table, kitchen, and home, made in the Hill Country of Central Texas. Nestled in the heart of the Texas Hill Country Wineries, located on scenic farm road 473 in Comfort and just minutes from Sisterdale, Fredericksburg, Boerne, and Kerrville. Our gallery houses a frequently evolving variety of handmade pottery, as well as the creations of local artists. Open Thursday, Friday and Saturday 10-5, Sunday 11-4, and Monday-Wednesday by appointment.
I did not know this place existed until I saw the sign along the road. The drive is long, single lane, dirt & gravel double track. Even after the recent winter storm and melt, I had no problem navigating it with my 25' motorcoach. Plenty of room at the top to turn around and park. Loved his pottery pieces (some very unique that I've not seen elsewhere) and the glazes he uses. Many items offered a discount with purchases of multiple pieces. Would have liked to have had the time to take one of his 2-hour beginner pottery classes.

Their Mules are wonderful. Made with their 120 proof vodka. Have a wide variety of drinks on menu made with their distilled vodkas made with prickly pear cactus.

The Tinsmith's Wife's primary aim is to provide inspiration for knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, cross stitch, and punch needle by providing a fantastic array of beautiful fibers, supplies, patterns, accessories, and canvases. For knitting and crocheting, we pride ourselves on having an eclectic and broad collection of supplies from independent dyers in addition to larger yarn companies. For our other fiber arts, we have a broad selection of patterns, canvases, and fibers to make your project shine. The Tinsmith's Wife also provides an array of classes in needlework, a warm environment to stitch for an afternoon surrounded by wonderful shop cats and a warm cup of tea. If you have not been to The Tinsmith's Wife yet, we encourage you to bring your current project to the store and join us for a morning or an afternoon. There are several comfy spots to sit (next to a cat), and there is always laughter, inspiration, and new ideas. Comfort is also a great town filled with great antique shops, yummy places to eat, and a sense of stepping back in time.
Fantastic selection of beautiful yarns and needlework crafts. Staff is welcoming and friendly. Set in an older building, full of character and gorgeous, handmade furniture. Even the husband enjoyed the visit. This is worth the drive if you are in the Texas Hill Country.

You will enjoy a visit to this scenic Hill Country vineyard and winery located up in the hills just south of Comfort on the banks of Bruins Creek. The tasting room, a rebuilt 100 year old Hill Country barn, greets you as you drive up to the winery. Park in the shade or tie your horse up to the old recycled wagon tailgate/sign out in front - and make yourself at home. A tour and tasting in this relaxed country atmosphere is sure to lower your stress level! Bring your picnic lunch and relax on the winery porch with a glass of award-winning Singing Water wine.
This was a wonderful experience, between the beautiful grounds, the wonderful wine, good hospitality and the Llama

Some of the best wines in Texas. The staff is a lot of fun and very knowledgeable. They have various food trucks and live music on the weekends so it becomes a place to spend an entire afternoon drinking great wines and enjoying good food and music.

A Not-for-Profit store benefiting Domesticated Asian Elephant Conservation. Store products are from countries that have Asian Elephants (far east) and most products are fair trade and made by the indigenous hill tribes. All proceeds go to help domesticated Asian Elephants and their owners.
I'd heard about the Elephant Storey from friends in Comfort. They were right -- it's an amazing store, especially in a small town--something you'd never expect to find. Great selection of cool merchandise, and the idea that profits help the elephants in Thailand...outstanding. BTW, I ran out of time, but took their card to get the website info; I'll be shopping online.
