This temple is the first temple of the Swaminarayan sect to have been built. In 1822, the land was given by the British government to do so, and Swaminarayan himself entrusted the responsibility for the construction of the temple to Ananandanand Swami. The temple is carved in Burmese teak, and every arch and bracket is painted with bright colors, a defining characteristic of Swaminarayan temples everywhere. There are several idols installed by Swaminarayan himself, as well as a display of some of his personal items and sculptures. In the adjoining haveli, there are quarters for pilgrims of the sect, a special section for women, and an area where ceremonies and teaching sessions are held for women only. Thanks to Narendra Modi who developed the riverfront when he was Gujarat CM. It was a dirty drain and the riverbanks were dens of criminals and anti-socials. Today, this is where hundreds head to for their monring and evening walks, and to soak in the beauty of the surroundings. The restoration of the river and development of the riverfront by Modi is a true and ladting tribute to Gandhiji

Dada bhagwan temple, or Trimandir temple is on the outskirts of Ahmedabad on Kalol highway. It is a peaceful spiritual place dedicated to the Dada Bhagwan, the founder of the sect. It has an auditorium in Ground floor where regular religious discourse by current sect leader is held. It has a small religious exhibition & book stall. One of the highlight of the place is the food court of the temple where thousands of people are served simple and delicious food on regular basis for a nominal charge.
