A bike trail challenging to both beginners and experts.
Some friends had told us about the trail a couple of years ago. We had a great time, rented a bike and shuttle service to the top of the trail. The part from White Top down to Damascus is pretty much all down hill and is pretty easy, even if you haven’t ridden in a while. There are several places to stop along the way and the scenery is great.

A tasting gallery and shop featuring over 85 varieties of the freshest organic, extra virgin, and naturally fused and infused olive oils from around the world. Experiment with your taste buds as you pair olive oils with balsamic vinegars, or our 18-year aged balsamic condimento from Modena, Italy. Yum! We also offer gifts of the mountains by local artists: one-of-a-kind cutting and charcuterie boards by Jimmy Mead, and gorgeous signature serving-ware by potter, Debbie Grimm.
The customer experience and customer service are as incredible as the product itself. Every time I’ve been in the staff is extremely friendly and helpful -I look forward to going as an “experience”! The variety of high quality infused oils and vinegars is mind blowing and getting to taste a huge variety in the store wonderful. I absolutely love this place and stop in any time I’m in the area. Well done to the management and staff!!

This scenic rail to trail park extends for about 34 miles from Damascus, Va to Abingdon. I walked for about an hour and a half and really liked it. There seemed to be a lot of trees along the trail. I'm guessing this would be a great place for a summer hike or bike ride if you like well shaded trails.

We are in Abingdon again to attend a performance at the Barter Theater. Our visit isnt’ complete without a stop Saturday morning to the Farmers Market. There is a woman at the very end of the market tables that sells fantastic beets! I mean one jar is a great lunch! And the bake goods for sale at the table towards the entrance are amazing. My favorite is the orange and apricot scones. They are fabulous. There’s a vendor near the entrance that sells individual pies... the cherry is the best! There are a few soap vendors too, lots of truly organic vegetables, fresh lettuce grown at the Harvest Table Farm, and fresh pressed juice from White Birch Restaurant. There is one of our favorite farmers markets!

Come for a tasting and a picnic on our beautiful riverfront property! Kids, dogs and kayaks welcome!
A beautiful fall afternoon can only be enhanced by reflective rolling water, interesting friends, and great wine. The water and the wine can be had at Abingdon Vineyard. You buy your wine and snacks inside and move outdoors to one of the picnic tables on the recently cleared river bank. This setting lends itself to good times. Now, if I can only find my way back....

The Historical Society of Washington County is the place to begin your genealogy research. If your ancestors came through Southwest Virginia, we probably have some information on them in our digital data base of over 170,000 images and records.
This is a great resource for local residents who need information on our past. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable, and were of great assistance to us in creating our Damascus History Tour. It's worth going here just to look through the old photos. Fascinating.
