LYON RUM Distillery is a micro distillery located in Saint Michaels, Maryland, steps from the Chesapeake Bay. Founded in 2012, the distillery launched with a signature line of rums paying tribute to the rich, spirited traditions of the Eastern Shore. Hand-crafted from start to finish, LYON RUM begins as intentionally-sourced raw ingredients, and are hand-crafted – mashed, fermented, and double-distilled in small pot stills – every step of the way, resulting in a superior and unique final product. The goal is to create distinct spirits – working to define the category of new American rum. The distillery is also home to Gray Wolf Craft Spirits, a boutique operation offering grain-to-glass spirits.
The barista was very knowledgeable and "walked" us through the various selections offered by Lyon's Distellery. We had fun tasting the many varieties, and purchased several.

We are a family-owned Maryland winery with gently sweet fruit/grape wines.
Good wine with good friends. Loved it! Quite the selection for such a small facility, and all of it was very, very good. They have small bottles for purchase, which I goobled up so I could try them all again at home. Very much worth the stop!

Great Shoals is a winery located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Visit our wine tasting room in historic St. Michaels to sample our award-winning Maryland wines and hard ciders. We also offer small plate fare and you can purchase wines and ciders by the glass or bottle. We locally source our grapes and other fruit to create our delicious wines and ciders.
I LOVED this spot. It feels a little tucked away and hidden, which is unfortunate considering it offers the best wine in St Michael’s. Make sure to seek it out, as their barrel oak Chardonnay is some of the best I’ve ever had. I love this place so much I’m willing to make the two hour drive alone for a wine haul. They have a wide variety of wines and ciders to please just about everybody!

Although Covid has placed restrictions on most all businesses St Michaels found a way to still deliver a very enjoyable expeirence. The "flights" offered a chnce to see what you wanted to take home at an agreeable price. Before this place I'd never tried a wine slushy. Now I make them at home with wine I bought from the winery. A cool day trip!

My friend and I stopped here on the way back to DC from Dewey Beach on a whim. What an excellent decision! Margot was working the tasting room and she is the mother of the boys who started the winery, and easily the sweetest woman on the planet. We had our four doggos, too, and she was friendly and welcoming to them. We got all the tasting flights (how could you not?) and Margot poured each one individually and spoke to us about each wine. The pours were generous, and most importantly, I have never been to a winery where all 15 wines were excellent. Like, actually superb. The three chambourcins were spicy and unique, and the two chardonnays were buttery and rich without being sweet (ew). The luxury Devil's Ridge at $50 was worth it-- so rich, leathery, and strong-palette-forward. We ended up buying two cases. Oops. But worth it. Best of all, we told Margot we wanted to come back next weekend, and within minutes, she had the contact info for her friends' dog-friendly Air B and B, an offer to have a cheese plate from a local creamery ready for us next week, and suggestions for other things to do. The next morning, not 12 hours after we had left, she had already emailed us to follow up, and said she would call restaurants for us as well. I mean, you don't get that kind of concierge service at the Four Seasons anymore. She even let us stay past closing to finish our wine/be safe to drive. Point is, this winery is worth the trek, from the service to the quality of the wines to the environment. Supporting smal business, drinking excellent wine, and meeting cool people- what more could you want? Come see Margot and family!!
