Llopart Cava

The singular emplacement of his vineyards with strict processes of production, define the style of the wines and cavas Llopart: The essence of a land, the vineyards and a great ancient tradition. The wines and cavas LLOPART are elaborated in the “Heritage Can Llopart de Subirats”, one of the wine estates with the longer tradition where it shows us a document preserved for the family since 1385. "Ex-Vite Vita ", the life comes from the vine-stock, is the motto that has been accompanied for successive generations of the family Llopart. This dedication culminates with the production of the first cava Llopart in 1887 in the former farmhouse of the family. The careful culture of 95 hectares of own vineyards, placed in a mountain zone, the selection of the best clusters, the delicate handcrafted process in our warehouses formed nowadays by a warehouse of vinification of upbringing wine, and a modern and integrated wine-cellar in the center of the Heritage, where it is possible to contemplate the privileged panoramic views of Penedés, guarantee the extraordinary quality of the wines and cavas Llopart.

I booked the Leopardi Tour for my wife and four friends. From start to finish, the communication was quick and helpful. Not only did Dalma give me the information needed to get to Sadurni via train, they also called me the morning of to make sure we were set. Roger, the sommelier at Llopart, greeted us with a big smile and would be our guide for the afternoon. His knowledge on wine and the history of cava was impressive, and his passion for wine showed throughout the day. The breakfast was fantastic (best bread we’ve ever eaten), and the meats and cheeses were fresh and delicious. Roger walked us through a tasting of their white still wine and one of the sparklings. After breakfast we moved on to the cellar to see how the grapes are bottled and aged. There was a quick 5 minute video showing how Llopart harvests the grapes each season by hand. We then found a beautiful set up of our next tasting in the cellar. Lastly, we ended with our last tasting in the library vault where the owners keep their most prized bottles. It was a really cool room with such amazing history of cavas. My wife and I have been on wine tours in Champagne, Greece, and California, and this was hands down the best experience we’ve been on. I’d recommend it to any person thinking about a day trip from Barcelona.

I am finally writing a review from my December, 2018 visit; not February, 2019 (it was difficult to write a review from the country I was living in). Besides the fact that the grounds are beautiful and the wines sampled were outstanding at both locations, our guides at 'Can Bas' (Esther) and 'Pere Ventura (multiple staff) were gracious, friendly, and dedicated to ensure that our experience at the winery was first-class. I was treated as a family member; in a good way! Esther, thank you for signing the 3-pack box of Priorat wines I purchased!

I went here as part of a hiking tour. First off, the wine is excellent, especially the sparking wine. The tour was fabulous. It's not really about how wine us made but how they make their wine, and the achievements and set backs they have experienced. I learned a lot about the ecological practices and was facinated by their innovations. The work they do is very important , because they will be required to sustain the wine industry longterm, and the innovations made in winemaking can translate to other farming industries. As a consumer, I wish to thank them for their efforts, and I wish them the best in getting the regulations to catch up with the science.
