Are you looking to experience Guatemala in an authentic and personal way? Experience the taste and flavors of Guatemala cooking at the Lake Atitlan Maya Kitchen. This class will help you understand how our Mayan culture and Spanish colonial influence blended together in a perfect harmony through food. You will have lots of hands-on fun learning how to cook up three authentic Guatemalan dishes during this 3-5 hour Guatemala cooking class. Learn how to prepare traditional recipes that are unique to Guatemala, and come away with all the skills you need to prepare them in your own kitchen. Our classes start at 9am. with a tour in the local Market, where together will purchase our ingredients, buying organic vegies from local people productors so in that way We are supporting their projects and giving them opportunities too.
Anita’s cooking class was our favourite activity in San Pedro !! We had the best experience, from buying fresh produce from the market in the morning to cooking up the yummiest meal in the most beautiful kitchen. There were 3 of us in the class which was the perfect number to all get involved and always have something to do ! Anita was the best host, so accommodating, knowledgeable about Mayan culture and open to sharing her own amazing story. Preparing the meal and then sitting down altogether to eat it was so rewarding and it tasted amazing !! I couldn’t recommend this Mayan cooking class more to anyone of any age. If you are in San Pedro it is absolutely a must !!!!

Come experience the best organic farm on Lake Atitlan on our Monday Farm Tours! Nestled in the undiscovered village of Tzununa, visitors will experience Permaculture farming and Mayan culture with all five senses. Learn about two fully functioning, profitable Permaculture farms. The activity begins with an interactive tour of our partners Granja Tzi'kin and continues up the road to also tour Atitlan Organics. On both farms you will learn about Permaculture and see how relationships between humans, plants, animals, and the earth develop and function to create eco-systems. Meet our animals: depending on the season we may be home to chickens, pigs, and/or goats. Sample fresh fruit from our food forest, and if you're interested in starting your own garden pick out some plants from our nursery. Following the farm tour there is an optional visit to nearby waterfall, and then a delicious farm fresh vegetarian lunch at the farm-to-table restaurant in the neighboring Bambu Guest House.

My friends and I loved learning to cook authentic Guatemalan cuisine from Chef Claudia. She did a wonderful job dividing up the duties so even the youngest children in our class could help prepare the meal, and we all learned a lot about traditional Mayan foods. At the end of the class, we sat down at the CECAP patio, perched among the Santa Cruz rooftops, and the kitchen staff presented our meal with a culinary flair. Enjoying our beautiful food along with beautiful views of the lake was a fantastic way to end our trip to Lake Atitlan.
