White Castle Vineyard is owned by Robb & Nicola Merchant, it is situated in the beautiful rolling countryside of Monmouthshire in the village of Llanvetherine close to the towns of Abergavenny and Monmouth. The 5 acre vineyard is planted on a gentle south facing slope that is ideal for growing vines and ripening grapes for Welsh wine. White Castle Vineyard is Wales premier vineyard and is dedicated to producing a variety of quality welsh wines using first class viticultural practices. Visitors are warmly invited to visit White castle Vineyard to experience the beauty and tranquillity of our rural setting. We have our Award Winning Quality Welsh Wine available for purchase from the Cellar Door
Fabulous couple of hours spent learning not only about the wine, but the personal story and passion behind the business. Probably the warmest, most genuine, personal ‘guided tour’ we have been on, delivered by Rob who is not only incredibly knowledgable but fun, friendly, full of anecdotes and stories and happy to share his knowledge. We spent time wandering through the vines tasting the different types of grape (we were lucky to visit just before harvesting time), followed by a relaxed and informative wine tasting - 4 types of wine to test with Rob guiding us through each one. They were all fantastic. There is absolutely no pushy selling at all, but of course you fall a little bit in love with the place and wanting to take a little bit of the magic away with us, we came away with a box of wine which we will enjoy along with the memories. Highly recommended way to pass a couple of hours

Located in the beautiful market town of Abergavenny, The Marches Delicatessen showcases a selection of fine cheese, charcuterie and local artisan foods from across Wales and The Marches region. The majority of our food is sourced directly from producers. This allows us to see first-hand the passion and dedication which goes into making the exceptional produce we sell.
When we moved to Abergavenny this shop was a wonderful find. The range of cheeses from Wales and the Marches region was extensive and the other items in the shop, from biscuits and chutneys to bread, charcuterie and olives, to gin and beers was really comprehensive. It came as a shock, though maybe not a total surprise, when the shop closed as of January 1st this year. There's still the branch in Monmouth, which has the added plus of a café which also serves light lunches ... a bit of a journey but well worthwhile now and again.

Excellent tour / education of gin distillation provided by Patrick. Very welcoming and inclusive approach for non alcoholic drinkers alike. Lovely location and enjoyed the sampling of the local produce. Highly recommend.

Award winning micro brewery. Producing a range of ales which can be purchased from our brewery shop. We also hold a monthly ale and pizza night held on the first Saturday of every month. Events and functions can be booked in our Taproom.
There's so much to see and do in the area. We went cycling in the forest of Dean and canoeing down the River Wye. All booked last minute and the cabin was really cosy to come back to.

We stumbled upon the vineyard whilst walking around Tintern Abbey - and I'm very glad we did! Upon entry, we were greeted by Colin - a chap with loads of character - who gave us advice regarding the self-guided tour of his vineyard (£2 per person - easily worth it). Returning to the shop, we were given a complimentary wine tasting, with an explanation of each, including a brief lesson in Welsh! Colin is not a pompous toff, he's very down to earth and entertaining - we laughed a lot. Tintern Parva has won many awards for its wines, which resulted in us buying 4 bottles. Great trip out. The only thing that would make this better is if there were a wine bar on the side, so we could fill ourselves on locally made wines, and roll ourselves down the hill to the hotel at the end.
