The Central Bohemian Region (Czech: Středočeský kraj) is an administrative unit (Czech: kraj) of the Czech Republic, located in the central part of its historical region of Bohemia. Its administrative center is placed in the Czech capital Prague (Czech: Praha), which lies in the center of the region. The city is not, however, a part of it and creates a region of its own.

A technical historical monument, the steam-powered Brewery of Lobec near Mseno is a witness of the five-hundred-years old tradition of beer brewing in the Kokorin region. The first written reference to the brewery dates back to 1586, while the Renaissance core of the existing structure was built around 1600. Between 1894 and1897, Rudolf Cicvarek, a lawyer and owner of the estate, had the original modest artisanal manufactory - once possession of the local gentry of Veznik - rebuilt to become a steam-powered production unit. The project was authored by a renowned engineer, Johan Rosenberg. Since 2007, the premises are possessed by RIOFRIO architectural platform and the exemplary redevelopment and revival of the brewery as a tourist attraction of the Kokorinsko protected landscape area is in progress. The brewery was declared a cultural monument by the Ministry of Culture in 2009...

Local winery, organic, natural wine, ecological vine growing in Kutna Hora. Wine tasting for groups from 2 persons in a beautiful wine bar combining historical architecture with modern design. Wine Cellar Tours. High quality coffee. Biodynamic wines produced with no additives and grapes grown without pesticides.
This wine tasting was arranged by our tour guide and we didn't know much about what to expect when we arrived. Being a cold January day during the off season we were the only guests and our tour was given by the daughter of the wine maker. This was a perfect way to see the cellars and sample the wines as she was not only knowledgeable about the wines but had a nice perspective on her family's story in becoming wine makers and vineyard owners. We had a couple nice local cheeses and breads with our wine and all the wines we tried were very very good. We bought two bottles to take home with us and wish we could have gotten more but our suitcases would never make it home that overweight! Seeing the amphoras buried in sand in the cellar was super neat, never seen that way of making wine before.

Follow the Goat at Velke Popovice Brewery and look under the lids of our brewmasters. We will show you how the real Czech beer - Velkopopovicky Kozel - is brewed. The picturesque historical brewery in which this great Czech beer has been brewed for more than 143 years is located only a short driving distance (15km) from Prague.
Kozal is an excellent Czech beer produced in the town of Velke Popovice about 20 miles from Prague. It is easy to get to on bus number 363 from Opatov metro station. The bus leaves from the flyover above the metro station (from the side of the road opposite where buses park up). The fare costs kc24 and you get off the bus at the Velke Popovice Pivovar stop which is shown on an electronic sign in the bus. On leaving the bus you can check return bus times from the timetable on the bus stop on the opposite side of the road. The brewery tour is interesting, informative and friendly covering both the history of the brewery and the brewing process. The brewery's symbol is a goat so it was good fun to both see the brewery goat and their white winter goat. Finally the highlight was a couple of samples in the historic cellar. The timings of tours in various languages can be found on Kozal's website and places can be booked in advance online. Bus times appear to be about 90 minutes before tour times and these can be checked on Prague public transport websites. Overall a great afternoon out from Prague that can easily be achieved on cheap public transport.
