We are convinced that the soil makes the wine. "For me, a wine is most interesting, natural and authentic when it is known where its grapes are grown,” Christoph says. “And that is why all of our efforts go into putting the typical expression of the soil into the wine.” Along with this comes another important principle of the family – less is more. The wine must have as few outside influences as possible. This requires clear and lengthy planning for sustainable work in the vineyards and gentle, meticulous care in the cellar.

All of Mittelburgenland under one roof Vereinte Winzer Blaufränkischland traces its history back to 1962, when the vintners' cooperative Winzergenossenschaft Horitschon und Umgebung was founded. Then as now, the association provides a strong platform primarily for small grape producers. The aim of Vereinte Winzer Blaufränkischland is the production of high-quality region- and variety-specific wines from the district's leading grape variety Blaufränkisch. Nearly 350 members from all of Mittelburgenland serve as the most important basis for achieving this aim. Together, they cultivate around 530 hectares of vineyards. Since 2008, Johann Dowitsch, sales and marketing chief, Gregor Wolf, cellar master, and Josef Raidl, long-time chairman, have formed a competent and future-oriented executive team at the head of Vereinte Winzer Blaufränkischland. The strict quality concept is exemplary for a partnership cooperation that in the long run will be regarded of great value by all parties involved - from the grape supplier to the wine enthusiast.
