February 19, 2022 Franklyn Hardiman

Shopping is plentiful in Bridgetown. The capital of Barbados offers duty-free shopping at cruise ship terminals and upscale boutiques on Broad Street. Additional activities include yachting, fishing, viewing cricket matches and the nightlife on Baxter's Road. For history, visit the Barbados Museum, National Heroes Square (formerly Trafalgar Square) and the oldest Jewish synagogue in the western hemisphere, as well as the house where George Washington stayed and the church he attended.

Treasures Of My Caribbean Kitchen - Culinary Experience

Your hands on culinary adventure takes place in my home. My name is Anne Marie & I’m a cookbook author & manufacturer of a unique Caribbean line of condiments, preserves & confectionery. Join me in the bustling Cheapside Market for a local breakfast & shopping for the ingredients needed to prepare lunch. Armed with a shopping list & money, you will have the opportunity to interact & chat with the vendors who grow & sell their produce. In the fish market, see how our flying fish is filleted & you can try your hand at learning this skill. At my home, you’ll learn about the history of rum & take part in a rum punch competition.DJ Snake Oil (my husband Keith) keeps your hips swinging from the moment you arrive with pulsating Caribbean rhythms. Also learn about how breadfruit came to the Caribbean & the origins of our traditional dish “Souse”. You’ll take home unforgettable memories & also an e-copy of my book, “Treasures Of My Caribbean Kitchen”.

The Bridgetown Fish Market

Reviewed By MRichardson2014 - Lake of Bays, Canada

The Bridgetown market was both a surprise and a treat. It is very clean, the fish is very fresh and you get to see whole cleaning and preparation process. It is out doors and close to the Cheaspside public market and is larger than the Oistins fish market. Recommend for market lovers.
