With its rich cultural heritage from Native American and Spanish settlers, New Mexico has been both a Spanish colony and a Mexican colony, and still retains a strong individual identity within the United States. The landscape is breathtaking, the food incredible, and there is a thriving cultural scene, all of which makes New Mexico, and Santa Fe in particular, a great place all year long.

Hollywick Farms is a working alpaca farm located at nearly 7,000 feet in the Sandia Mountains, just off the Turquoise Trail National Scenic Byway, a short drive from the majestic Sandia Crest , the Sandia Peak Ski Area, the Tinkertown Museum and the historic mining towns of Golden and Madrid. Get up close and personal with our alpacas and shop for luxurious products made from their fiber.
My friends from Pittsburgh were in town and they were up for a little adventure ~ Bill and Kathy's farm did not disappoint. They were very friendly and knowledgeable, and they were so patient with our barrage of never ending questions. They had a nice little gift shop containing beautiful items made from alpaca fiber. The gloves I purchased came all the way from Peru!

With great sadness, we must announce our upcoming closing. We are in the process of selling our alpacas, some who are national award winning while others are fine fiber animals. Packages considered as well as individual sales. White, brown, grey. Come visit a small working alpaca ranch just outside of Santa Fe. We would love to introduce you and your family to our herd of 11 alpacas (with two more due later in 2018), originally native to the mountains of South America. Known for their incredibly soft, warm, hypoallergenic fleece, these meek relatives of the camel give us fleece which we spin into yarn and woven into gorgeous rugs. As a former teacher, I love young visitors. Please call us to make an appointment to visit our animals plus see how we turn fleece into finished products. Ranch tours are free, Mon to Sat. In our shop we stock alpaca socks, yarn, hand knitted newborn booties, handmade scarves, dryer balls, cat balls, and our very popular alpaca felted hand crafted soaps.

Took the kids for the their first time to pick apples off the tree. At first they were not to sure, but when we go there and they saw all the different things they could do they got excited. The staff there is very friendly and so are the dogs. We got a hay ride down to the orchards to pick some apple. Just a reminder that if you are looking for honey crisp apples you will need to go early in the season (end of AUG). We picked all kinds from red delicious, gold delicious, fugi, wine crisp (cooking apples instead of granny) and even got some gala. The kids sure did enjoy it cause we came home with 50lbs of apples. HAHA. They have some kind of harvest year round so take a day off from the techno world and send some time doing something fun outside.

Motorized Farm Tours Daily 10-4.
We caught a glimpse of this place after we drove into town and after some further research we decided to stop for a visit in front of the world's largest pistachio and do some shopping. I will say their gift shop is larger than you think but the main reason for stopping was their pistachios both the savory and sweet. They were simply amazing and after trying a few samples we walked out with quite a few bags. The staff is very friendly and helpful and it added to making our experience there a worthwhile one. If you are in the area, stop by and support this wonderful local business.

My family of 9 all picked raspberries and the 4 young ones loved it, we all had a blast. The weather was partly cloudy a few spots of sprinkling rain, but over all it was fantastic. After picking a trip to the cafe for some BBQ, it was a great day! BEST DAY EVER!

Driving down highway 70 in either direction you'll notice the giant "heart" of the desert and that describes this place perfectly. It's not as gimmicky as a giant nut but that's what makes this place so great. The atmosphere, the people, and of course their delicious variety of pistachios. The owners Mary Ann and George are also some of the nicest people I've ever met. They also have a great selection of souvenirs, treats, and wines! I recommend taking a tour and taking one of their fairly priced baskets of pistachios. They make great local gifts for friends and family. Finally, if you'd like to just relax with a nice glass of pistachio wine or a cup of their pistachio ice cream, the back patio has amazing atmosphere.

This is the very first time we are seeing a Lavender Farm and we were blown over. We were travelling from Santa Fe to Taos and made a detour to visit this place. We were there in Aug and the whole area was bloomed. We loved the smell and enjoy the scenery very much. We tried their Tea House and had their Lavender cake and drink too. It was a nice experience for a first timer and glad we made it.
