Whether you are looking for sun-drenched beaches or outdoor activities in beautiful countryside, New Jersey has plenty to offer. Those who love the great outdoors should head for the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, which runs along the Delaware River for forty miles. Here you can go rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking or fishing, or simply admire the stunning waterfalls. There is a huge range of hiking trails to choose from as well as historic sites to visit. In winter, you can enjoy cross-country skiing near Blue Mountain Lakes, and birdwatchers might be lucky enough to catch sight of bald eagles. If you are looking for a change, visit one of New Jersey's eleven lighthouses that are open to public, such as the one in Cape May. For art and history enthusiasts, New Jersey State Museum in Trenton has historic artifacts and American fine art from the nineteenth century to the present day as well as a Planetarium.

Please see our website for more information on visiting the farm. :) You'll love meeting our curious alpacas and browsing in our shop for soft, warm alpaca clothing and cuddly toys! We also carry more than 20 different types of alpaca yarn from Blue Sky Fibers, Alpaca Yarn Company, and farm yarn (when available). Hope to see you soon!
So worth the trip - we were staying less than 10 minutes away and I decided to surprise my family. We'd never been to an Alpaca farm before so my wife and two teenage sons were very surprised - and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Jim was our host - he had the necessary handwashing and sanitizing station prepared. After a short introduction, he provided us bags of carrots (teats for the Alpacas) and walked us to the pen to see the male Alpacas, followed soon after by female Alpaca in their pen. Jim was an awesome host, answered all our questions, and taught us all about Alpaca - they are such friendly animals. This visit was definitely worth the time and money!

I love Hollock’s because I can always find beautiful vegetables. There is always a large variety and the plants are never “picked through”. You are able to get a good amount of whatever you are looking for and the prices are so reasonable.

A 19th-century working farm complete with a restored Gothic Revival mansion.
We had an amazing time with Pat on this special October tour and learned so much. The house is beautiful inside and out and Pat was a wealth of information. She is so passionate about the home, Victorian mourning traditions, and the stories of the people who lived there. We could have stayed all day and listened to everything she knew!

Bay Springs Farm is a preserved working farm situated on what was the last Dairy Farm in Cape May County. Today it is the site of the largest alpaca farm in the County. We are no longer open, but we have yarn and products for sale on our website and at West End Garage.
We were visiting the area and saw the sign. We called and the owner and she said her and her husband were in their 80s and were not opening up again until there is a vaccine for COVID. They do sell some of their merchandise in the West End garage. We went there to get some alpaca socks.

Duke Farms serves as a model of environmental stewardship and inspires visitors to become informed stewards of the land. It is a place of education, enjoyment and research that enhances the environmental health of the region. Through the beauty of its natural setting, the diversity of its wildlife, and the scope and quality of its educational programs, demonstrations and research, Duke Farms inspires people to transform their approach to conservation and to start building a more sustainable future.
In addition to my latest visit to Duke in March 2020, I have attended numerous meetings, conferences and events there. The place never fails to impress. Where else in the metro region will you find well-maintained bicycle trails, an active Bald Eagle Nest (check out the nest cam!), a farm-to-table cafe, EV charging stations, community gardens, and LEED-certified facilities? ALl of it the legacy of Doris Duke and the ongoing inspiration of the Foundation that bears her name. You owe it to yourself to check it out.

On a beautiful Saturday, my family visited the farm. It is in a gorgeous location, so peaceful and perfectly maintained. The special event for the weekend was the animal care. For the first time, we saw horses being shoed by the farrier. He was extremely knowledgeable and patient. The veterinarian discussed and demonstrated horse dental care, as well as administering and explaining inoculations. My family also visited the Sugar Shack and heard a very thorough explanation of turning sap into maple syrup. This is the time when the sap is running, so we were able to see and smell active production of syrup. The grounds are beautiful, and we walked a large portion of the property. We ended our stay with a visit to the gift shop. They had very strict control, only granting one or two families entrance at a time. We bought the maple syrup (so delicious) and honey, both produced on property. The farm is part of the Mercer County Park System, so there is no entrance fee. The day's event was run by volunteers, who were very knowledgeably, patient, and kind. There is a container for donations, but for those families on a budget (and even if you're not), it's an excellent outing for the day.
