Whether it's picking peaches, getting giant Pig Peanuts from over 100 year old seed stock, or taking the family to a wholesome, fun, festival in the fall...Mitchell Farms is worth the 15 minute drive off of Highway 49 in Collins. It's a look at the quiet farm life...as it used to be (and still is!) among America's Farm Families. Educational. And Delicious.

We are the largest working alpaca farm in Mississippi. 18 alpacas, a llama, 3 Great Pyrenees livestock guard dogs, 2 mini donkeys, and chickens currently reside here. Come see the animals and learn how their fiber is hand spun into luxurious yarn. Browse the farm store for unique alpaca products, goat milk soaps, Color Street nail strips, and DoTerra essential oils. Tours are offered for $5 per person which includes feeding the animals, fiber demonstrations, and making a wet felted soap. If you just want to come see the animals and visit the store, admission is free.
What a perfectly peaceful place- and a fun stop on our journey! Mary Ann and Terry were welcoming, kind and informative! We learned about Alpacas and how yarn is spun from their hair. The store is packed with sweaters, socks, gloves, blankets and toys all made from alpaca hair.. amazing quality! ( hubby bought socks and says they are incredible!) We stayed in our RV through Harvest Host on level, dry area and enjoyed the “country” sounds of animals “talking”(dogs, chickens, alpacas, llamas, donkeys) slept like a dream! Thank you!!!!!

Cedar Hill Farms is where we always find big smiles and family fun!! Our grandkids are 6 years old and younger so they are little kids! Our grandkids look forward to: petting and feeding the farm animals; playing on the swings, hay and slide; the annual Easter Egg Hunt; Christmas tree farm; picking a pumpkin each year; and eating catfish fillets with French fries while seated outdoor under the pavilion of their restaurant called Cedar Hill Farm Restaurant. Families sit together or sit outside so you won’t see many masks right now — but will see smiling faces!! It’s Spring 2021 and I’ve already traveled many times this year for my job across southeastern US. My family and I have also eaten dinner here many times between their seasonal events. Our favorite is the catfish fillet dinner and Area 51 ice cream for dessert (we all share one order). Lol It’s a great way for us to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine with the grandkids!! By the end of our visit they’re ready for a quick nap. Bottom line is it’s only a short drive from downtown Memphis, TN. Memphis has many masks requirements so please enjoy their restaurants should you prefer everyone to wear masks. Some folks prefer masks, others prefer no masks, some in-door dining while others outdoor dining. None of the choices are ‘right’ or ‘wrong.’ They’re just different. Different towns means different rules so please enjoy time with your family wherever you and they are happy!!

Dockery Farms is said to be where the blues were born. Home to famous Mississippi Delta Bluesman, Charley Patton, Dockery Farms was a farming plantation with its own currency, school, churches, gas station and much more. Famous bluesmen Robert Johnson, Henry Sloan, Son House and Howlin' Wolf all played at the legendary plantation.
We stopped here on our way to New Orleans. The place was well maintained and easy to find just a few miles east of Cleveland on the highway. We did a self tour and went inside the cotton gin. The store/restaurant is closed and I don't know the plans for it. Be sure and leave a donation in the box.
