As first time visitors we were excited to explore Eugene and chose Studio West as one of our first stops. The drive to the studio alone is amazing, it’s grand country side with a clear view of the Cascade mountains and main route to the best wineries was an unexpected benefit. Once off the main road it was a treat to see the wilderness at its best, ducks; deer; sheep; horse farms and more! We were surprise and happy to feel the tranquility of open farm land and its colorful fields. My friends from the city couldn’t stop wowing how beautiful the drive was. We weren’t even to the studio location and we all agreed we had made the right choice. Easy to find and a warm welcome from the owners felt like we had made it home greeted by chickens; ducks; doggies a great chalet home nestled in the woods. Excited to start the glass blowing, Ciara & Alex were informative and caring, sincerely wanting us to have a personalized and great experience. Indeed it was! Truely creative and comitted to their love of art was felt by their professionalism, patience and positive attitude. Studio West exceeded our expectations and the experience we had is still the main highlite we talk about to our family and friends. Can’t wait for our next visit!

The oldest Liberal Arts college west of the Rockies.
Sweet walkway along a pretty creek that runs through campus, very bucolic. Nice art museum across street from main campus, State Capitol right across the street and Bush park 2 blocks away, plus Amtrak station 1 block from campus.

The University of Oregon's Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art is a premier Pacific Northwest museum for exhibitions and collections of historic and contemporary art. The mission of the museum is to enhance the University of Oregon’s academic mission and to further the appreciation and enjoyment of the visual arts for the general public. The JSMA features significant collections galleries devoted to art from China, Japan, Korea, Europe, and the Americas as well as changing special exhibition galleries. The JSMA is one of seven museums—and the only academic art museum-- in Oregon accredited by the American Alliance of Museums.
It's unbelievable what you can find at this museum on the University of Oregon campus. It's like a set of samples from top-notch museums all over the world. You can bump into an extensive Asian collection, Renaissance art, classic 20th century photography, avant-garde latin-american artists, and constantly changing high-end exhibits: statues by Ai Weiwei, a Botticelli, a Picasso, a Van Gogh, with several deep and wonderfully curated exhibits. Really more than you can see in a day. And a nice café!

Only working Steam Railroad Museum in Oregon. We have three vintage steam locomotives, machine shop, rail history exhibits, gift shop, and space for birthday parties. 10-mile train rides on Saturdays, Holiday Express train trips in November/December. Home to the American Freedom Train, driven 32,000 miles across America during the Bicentennial. This GS-4 locomotive is the last operating steam locomotive of its kind (Streamliner, created in an art deco motif), and is the most photographed engine in the world.
My family has always been into trains. I take train rides whenever I get a chance. The price of this place being free is amazing but I made sure to donate.
