One of the most historic cities in America, Philadelphia is an ideal place to spend a weekend - preferably a long one. Be sure to see the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, where the Constitution and Declaration of Independence were signed. Both are part of Independence National Historic Park. Philadelphia also boasts some outstanding art museums, including the Rodin Museum. The Franklin Institute Science Museum is one of many area attractions honoring the life and work of Benjamin Franklin, the city's most famous ambassador. After digesting all of that history, be sure you save room for a classic Philly cheese steak sandwich.

A part of the Smithsonian (so all but special exhibits are free) this very interesting and informative museum covers life of Jews in the United State. It has a nice mix of exhibits with historical information (including immigration facts and figures), artifacts, interactive exhibits and film/tv clips. Informative and enjoyable. Worth a trip to Philadelphia for.

We enjoyed the exhibit and learned a lot! It was fun to play trivia games and compete against each other. The location is great too as it only takes a minute to walk to the Liberty Bell and then to Independence Hall.

The Center provides the public with a place to explore architecture, urban planning, and design, allowing them to understand how these disciplines affect us all in our daily lives. Using Philadelphia's distinctive breadth of architecture, pioneering urban design, and manufacturing heritage as the foundation for conversation, we educate the public through walking tours, guest speakers, exhibitions, hands-on workshops, design competitions, festivals, and children’s programming. The Center brings together architects, designers, developers, thought leaders, and the public under one roof and also provides office space for AIA Philadelphia, the Community Design Collaborative, and the AIA Bookstore. The Center is open to the public seven days a week.

We went to see the Marriage of Figaro. The orchestra was fantastic, and the performance first rate. People in the area don't realize what a world-class gem this institution is, right here in our back yard, so to speak. The singers, the production, the stage design --all were excellent. And the building provides an intimate experience. On the ride home, husband turned on the radio, and I asked him not to, not wanting to lose the music, which I could still hear in my head.
