Me and my girlfriend did this turtle release early may 2021. We got to release 45 minutes old baby turtles into the ocean. The guides were very helpful and informative about turtles in general and around the area. Would recommend everyone to experience this. Prepare for cuteness!

We were picked up at our hotel at 6.45am sharp as agreed (+1 for punctuality) then we went to the beach where we waited for the other couple (+1 for being only 2 couples, Robert and the our captain), we started off quite quickly. We were told that we needed to go far in the sea to reach the dolphins, but luck was on us and we could see them after 10 min in the boat, we were the 1st boat to enter in contact with them all! (+1) we stayed in the area for a while, the dolphins were playing with the boat and our guides were as euphoric as we were about the jumping dolphins, jumping ray matas, turtles and snakes we saw. I thought we would have to leave after a few minutes with the dolphins, but they took us to some more beaches to see from the sea. Finally we came back to the beach after a good 2h30 on the water. Robert called us a taxi, stayed with us for a little chat while waiting for the taxi. At 10am we were at home ready to eat and with amazing memories of these beauties. Muchas gracias Robert !!

My friend and I booked Tomas for a tour up to Llano Grande falls. He picked us up at our hotel at 8:30 and then we travelled the 2 hours up to the falls through little villages along the climb up the mountains. Tomas was very knowledgeable about the area as he is from this area. He pointed out different species of trees and plants along the way, and even took a picture of a tree so he could find out later what it was. He's always striving to learn new things and increase his knowledge. Although the trip was long and bumpy, Tomas drove very carefully and slowly which was much appreciated.(newer very clean air conditioned car) Contrary to past things I have heard about this trip to the falls, there is no " awful drop off" from the road, at least I didn't see any. The road has been improved over the years, and more and more is being paved, especially through the villages. We stopped a couple times along the way, once to pick up a 'treat' from a local store, which turned out to be tostadas that are flavoured with coconut and chocolate I believe. When we stopped to have coffee, we dipped these into our coffee. The restaurant we stopped at for coffee (which was to be our lunch stop as well) sat beside a beautiful stream that flowed past as we sipped at our delicious coffees. When we arrived at the falls, Tomas was sure to mention that we should take the available walking sticks to help with our walks down to the falls. It was an absolutely beautiful peaceful magical walk down the path beside the river to the falls. Tomas was always watchful that we were managing the somewhat uneven pathway (lots of tree roots etc that could trip you up if not watching) and helping where needed. Tomas was sure to point out the various butterflies along the way, each specific area had different species. One in particular was the glass-winged butterfly- had clear wings outlined in black. He managed to get a picture of one (which he was happy to share with us). Once at the falls, we were free to do what we wanted for as long as we wanted. He was always nearby if we needed help or had questions. At the falls you can swim behind the falls, it takes a minute to get past the rushing falling water, but it was not a problem for me (and I'm not the best swimmer by far). It was really fun to get behind the falls, Tomas was already there and took pics (which he shared of course!). The area where the falls are is shallow for the most part, and you can sit in little 'pools' like having a whirlpool. There are a couple young ladies at the falls applying clay masks if you wanted (for free), which is the red clay from the local mountain. It dries, then you rub it off, then rinse. My friend and I both were surprised at how soft our skin was afterwards, and ended up buying some when we met the young lady at lunch again. We stayed approx. an hour and a half at the falls, then went to lunch (you can stay as long as you like, Tomas was very flexible with the day). Lunch was excellent and included chicken mole, which was the first time I'd tried mole; such a combination of wonderful flavours. We had time to visit 2 little shops in the area also which had local herbs and medicines, local soaps, nuts, chocolate, mezcal etc. It was so nice to be up in the mountains, at these lovely little local shops learning about everything they had to offer and how it was made. I would highly recommend Tomas for any tour as he is very knowledgeable , patient, considerate and flexible. Excellent English, he even had brought along cold water and beer in a cooler for us, made sure to check if we needed bathroom breaks every so often. Make sure you only bring one bag along with you to the falls, and water shoes if you have. To walk the path to the falls you should have something a little better than flip flops. There are quite a few steeper steps down to the falls (and back up again), so people with difficulty walking and stairs might not be able to do this tour. We were back at our hotel by 5:30.
