Hiking in the Holy Mount of Tomor is an amazing experience. The region’s holy mountain unfolds great beauties and a unique view of the wild surroundings. The hiking tour lasts around 3 hours and it is available to everyone (no professional skills are required). Not far from Berat’s city center, the ancient home of the Illyrian gods,  Mount Tomor, rises some 2416 meters above sea level. The mountain is famous for the National Park Tomori (Parku Kombëtar Mali i Tomorrit), but also has a deeper, spiritual significance. This sacred mountain, named for and presided over in Albanian lore  by  Baba Tomor or Father Tomor, carries a special significance among even modern day Albanians. Another of the country’s fascinating traditions, Tomor exemplifies much about the Albanian spirit.

The Archaeological Park of Apollonia, a Greek colony with a strong Illyrian component, is a magical place. Its special atmosphere is created by a combination of the unique monuments, archaeology and landscape, difficult to find anywhere in Mediterranean. The ancient city of Apollonia is one of the best known and important classical cities in the country. The site is an important destination for cultural tourism, a gastronomic and landscape attaction, and should be considered a potential resource to enhance the local economy. This is a full day trip in this archaeological park and to monastery of Ardenica in the afternoon. The Monastery of Ardenica is located close to Kolonja. It is a Byzantine structure occupying a surface area of about 2,500 m². This monument consists of the Saint Mary Church, the Saint Triad chapel, the konake, the oil mill, the oven and the stall. In the center is situated the Church of St. Mary, partly built with pumice stones brought from Apollonia.

Dear Sirs, I would like to thank "1001 Albanian Adventures" for organising me a tour from Tirana to Prizren. In the time the pandemy affected all travellers around the world, the information in Internet is diverse and contradictionary. Some websites say, that the borders are open, calls to other give the answer, that you need covid-test, what takes time and money. In such region, like Montenegro-Albania-Kosovo, you even get different timetables for bus departures - or even totally no information about it. "1001 Albanian Adventures" and especially Erilda herself made my trip from Albania to Kosovo possible. He was always available for my questions per Facebook, even apart her working hours, in the evening. She organised for me a "half-tour" to Prisren from Tirana, following my budget, so that I could go further to Pristina Airport. I felt safe and cared about and want to say thank you! Ana S, Germany

Explore one of the oldest and best wine-producing regions in Albania and know the history of Berat; how it started producing wines in the 8th century BC. Meet the families who started growing grapes in their own gardens and backyards so they could create Rakia and wine for personal consumption. Eat lunch in a small village and walk in the vineyards We are proud to tell that Berat has its indigenous grape called Puls/Pules – Though originally used to make rakia, a traditional fruit brandy popular in Albania, this grape now yields some of the finest dry white wines in the country. With its delicate floral bouquet and a long finish, this could be a worthy addition to your wine cellar. This grape grows in the Berat County of Albania. We had the best time on this tour. Our guide Randi and our driver Erjon were very knowledgeable and happy people. It took us longer on the hike because we had a 3 year old child with us, but that was no problem even though the tour took altogether longer than expected. We felt safe and the lunch stop was very nice as well. We learned a lot about the Albanian culture as both spoke very good English. Thank you for creating such a great memory for us!!

Visited these guy’s shop whilst just passing by chance. Decided to book one of their trips to the waterfall and to see the canyon as had a day to kill. I’ve done a fair few of these trips but Spiro and Randi really tried their best to tailor to our needs. We basically didn’t want to be out for a whole day trip so they cut it back to around 4 hours which was enough to cram in the highlights. Good English were really knowledgeable about the area and history

This is a full day trip that includes 2-3 hours walking in the nature, possibility to taste traditional food or barbeque and explore the beautiful nature. The canyon of Osumi is one of the most spectacular natural attractions in Albania. In spring, high water levels from melted snow makes possible to explore all the 26 km of the canyon. Spring is the best time to view the many waterfalls in the canyons, which thunder from above as explorers pass below on boats. The edges of the canyon are notable for its unique ecosystem that preserves the greenery on both sides of canyon year-round. Mediterranean bushes like heath and briar flourish along with a rich and lively world of flora and fauna. Bogova is found on the way to the canyons, and the waterfall is reached after a 40 min walk. Part of a natural protected area, the waterfall gives you a wild life feeling. The water coming down from the rocks has created a natural small pool about 8 meters deep.

Shkoder is a lively city with a nice old part. But the best is the old castle a little bit outside, up on a hill, which you can reach by car. But to enter the castle, from where you have enormous views over the rivers and lakes. At the end of the castle, a little bit hidden, there is a cosy cafe from where you can also see the great landsacpe. But don't forget to use good shoes for sightseeing.

10. Daytrip to Berat, from Tirana

MAK OLIMPIK TRAVEL ALBANIA

Have real experience of the local culture. Lunch is a unique affair in a traditional house within the castle run by a local couple. This is the absolute possibility to experience Albanian home cooking and is not to be missed. After visits and optional lunch at the castle with homemade specialities we make our way down to the old district of Mangalem where we will visit the Kings Mosque and Helveti Tekke next to each other. Religious monuments of different faiths stand together demonstrating the religious tolerance of Albanians’. On the way back to Tirana we stop at a local winery run by a family from Berat, where we can sample one of the best Albanian wines.
