If waterfalls, hot springs, wildlife and volcanoes are your thing, then Arenal Volcano National Park will take your breath away. One of the world’s most active volcanoes burps tufts of smoke in the background as you make your way through forests and old lava fields. Take a rafting tour or hit the beach, then retire to a comfy hotel.

This was by far the best tour we took while in Costa Rica, thanks to our incredible guide, Jorge. Jorge planned a day like no other for us. He was kind, humorous, polite, respectful, fun, and quite knowledgeable. We experienced the best of Costa Rica, truly la pura vida!!!! We saw gorgeous waterfalls, unique birds and animals, and other amazing flora and fauna. We enjoyed comfortable, well paced hiking, an exhilarating waterslide, thrilling ziplines, soothing thermal pools, marvelous rejuvenating mud, delicious food and so much more!!!! Jorge also played some great music and is truly a rock and roll aficionado. Jorge treated us like rock stars and with our sincere gratitude for his efforts, we enjoyed a tour of a lifetime. We highly recommend this tour, especially with Jorge. He is SIMPLY THE BEST!!!!

Without a doubt, the highlight day of our first trip to Costa Rica was our 3-in-1 tour with RainForest Explorers. We had Carlos as our guide and driver for the first two stops - Mistico Hanging Bridges and hiking at the base of the Arenal Volcano. Carlos was truly an amazing guide and such a fun person to spend the day with. He was excellent at spotting animals and super knowledgeable about everything we saw. Mistico was beautiful, but I think without Carlos we would have walked through it in half an hour and not seen a single animal. Instead, we saw two different troops of monkeys (Spider and Howler), a tarantula, a viper, bats, Blue Jeans Poison Dart Frogs, many birds and butterflies, and on and on. It was a wonderful tour! He used his Swarovski scope to give us a great look at the animals, and also took photos and videos through it with our phones. At the end of our walk through the Hanging Bridges, Carlos cut up a fresh pineapple to snack on before we got back in the van. Even the pineapple came with a lesson, where we found out that pineapple is a multiple fruit. Next, we drove to the base of Arenal Volcano to hike up some of the old lava rocks. We got our geology lesson for the day, saw some more beautiful animals, and took some great photos. Apparently Arenal rarely shows her full face, but we had an absolutely clear view of the Volcano throughout the entire day. After Arenal, Carlos drove us to the private restaurant owned by RainForest Explorers. Yuliana, the founder of the company (who does a great job running the scheduling and customer service), and her mom Ileana welcomed us warmly to the restaurant. Ileana taught us how to make tortillas, but our results shouldn’t be representative of her teaching skills, ha! After we made tortillas, we were fed a delicious lunch of casado tipico (protein, salad, gallo pinto, avocado, and plantains - amazing), guanabana juice, and coffee made in a chorreador. It was our favorite meal of the entire trip. We hung out for a little while after lunch (and got up close and personal with a sloth that was hanging out on a fence on their property), said a sad goodbye to Carlos, and then Yuliana’s brother Edgardo drove us to Eden Chocolate Farm for a tour. After the chocolate tour (also a great tour), Edgardo picked us up and drove us back to our hotel. It was the perfect day! We would recommend RainForest Explorers for anyone looking for a touring company in the Arenal region.

We did the Arenal Highlights, Rio Celeste, and Venado Caves with Kenia. The sites were incredible, but Kenia was even more incredible! Without her guidance we wouldn't have seen nearly as many toucans, sloths, monkeys, and venomous snakes. Kenia's friendliness and passion for nature helped make this trip special.

The six hour tour only took two. The dept of health had closed down the city due to a COVID outbreak. Everything was closed. Can’t really blame the operator. Probably also went faster because there were just the two of us.

"Celeste" in Spanish means celestial, paradisiacal and also the light blue color of the clear sky. These adjectives perfectly describe the area you will visit in this tour. On the flanks of the Tenorio Volcano National Park, this 7 km hike takes you to the point where the river Mother Nature magically mixes the water of two crystalline streams, changing its color to the beautiful blue light we call Celeste. Continue to "the pots", the depressions in the clay-filled soil with supposed therapeutic properties and the Tenorio Volcano hot springs. The trail continues through the forest until you reach the dazzling waterfall of Rio Celeste. During all this time, the surrounding jungle is full of life forms, smells and incredible sounds.

This company took all stress away for our trip to Costa Rica. Deybis promptly answered all questions and arranged the requested services via email. We did pay a small down payment via Paypal as Deybis said they’d been stood up at airports previously, and given it is about a 4.5-5 hr round trip commitment for their driver out of La Fortuna, it was certainly reasonable. Jose met us immediately outside customs at the Liberia airport with an air conditioned van that was very clean and stocked with bottled water, sodas, and beer along with snacks. He drove us 2.5 hrs to the Nayara Springs Resort (wouldn’t recommend a rental car unless you’re very familiar with Costa Rica). Juan Jose and Gabriel picked us up the next day from Nayara Springs for a 4 hr Hanging Bridges Tour. Gabriel was so incredibly knowledgeable and has an eye for wildlife like no other (and brought a telescope for better viewing). We saw spider monkeys, howler monkeys, tarantula, stingless honey bees, numerous species of birds, poison dart frog, sloths, black racer snake, and an eyelash viper. The waterfall was beautiful as well. The tour ended with a delicious spread of fresh fruit and drinks. Juan Jose provided our transfer from Nayara Springs to a different coastal resort. He made quick stops at El Arbol de Paz (massive 900 yr old tree) and Rio Celeste on the drive. Each of these gentlemen have immense pride and knowledge of the history and volcanic landscape of Costa Rica. They all spoke English very well. They provided great flexibility in accommodating our schedule and consistently arrived at least 5-10 minutes early for each of our reservations. The prices are roughly 40% less than the tours and transfers offered by the Nayara Springs staff. Don’t remotely question booking with this company- a wonderful small outfit with personalized, outstanding customer service.

Zender is enthusiastic guide, experienced in locating & identifying local flora and fauna, and describing their behaviors and interactions. He is kind & laid back, and I highly recommend him! We learned tons about the plants and animals in the park, and he pointed out a huge viper and tiny bats and bees in the middle of the day that we wouldnt have otherwise known were there. Thank you, Zender!

The majestic Arenal Volcano, which is the greatest attraction of La Fortuna, with an almost perfect cone of 1,633 meters high. During the walk we can observe an abundant flora and some fauna that inhabits a regenerating forest. Your naturalist guide will explain about the amazing history and activity that the volcano has suffered during its different eruptive phases. After the walk, if you wish, you can choose between the most popular hot springs in the area where you can relax and enjoy waters heated by volcanic veins.

Very professional and friendly from beginning to end. We had the tour just for ourselves. The pick up was done without any delay. The guide was very friendly and helpful. Upon arrival to Rio Celeste it started raining quite hard, but that did not stop us. It actually gave the whole tour a very nice and realistic feeling. The explanations were very accurate and the walk was extremely enjoyable. The lunch at the Soda was amazing, owner and her daughter were extremely friendly and super approachable, and the traditional rice with chicken was simply exquisite. The only but, to say any, is that the road to get there from La Fortuna can be a very bumpy at times, but that’s nobody’s fault. 10 out 10 points.
