If you are in Terceira and like a bit of adventure and enjoy off the beaten track activities I highly recommend you to do this tour with Juca. Juca is very knowledgable of the hidden gems on the island and passionate about his work. Also, he makes sure you are safe while visiting the caves. Last but not least, he is passionate about photography and thus, he will take take some really nice shots of you. This was one of the best tours have done so far!

What you will see on this tour are much older structures with more of 1000 years located in several points of the Island that do not belong to the Portuguese. These structures belong to civilizations Megalithic e Phoenicians. This last one was discovered by us and explored by one team from the National Geographic. Azorbus city tour are an excellent team, my wife and I did the cave tour with them in April 2021 and we couldn't be happier. Throught the tour they explained the history of the island, in particular by how it has been shaped by the volcanic eruptions and Spanish / Portuguese conquests. In the short space of an afternoon we visited: - A beautiful pond were we were given food to feed the ducks - An impresive lava tube which even included an altar for celebrating mass - Several natural swimming pools by the sea made out of an old lava flow - The highlight of the trip was a breathtaking secondary "volcanic caldera" which consited of a very deep whole filled with vegetation and a beautiful lagoon at the bottom were we were told that concerts sometimes take place. - We finally saw a "ganadero" bull ring were the bulls are kept for the local festivities. All in all it was a great value for money, I would highly recommend the experience to anyone whishing to see the best of Terceira Island in a single afternoon.

We did a full day tour in Terceira with AzorBus! Filipe and Filipa (and Katarina) were all amazing, we had a great day sightseeing with them. We got to know the island very well and they were amazingly organized, explained a lot. Would recommend their tours to anyone! Terceira is also beautiful and so interesting to visit!

I had booked this tour well in advance and was looking forward to it. There I was, waiting to be picked up, as arranged, outside the hotel. After 20 minutes of no-show, I phoned the number and was informed that Algar de Carvão isn't open on Mondays, so the operator had cancelled the trip. This incompetence ruined my trip to Terceira. The tour operator should obviously not accept bookings for days when attractions are closed. I could easily have planned to do things differently had I been warned in time. I asked for a refund over the phone - after all, it was the operator who cancelled, not me - but so far it has not been forthcoming.

It was a nice kind of private tour, only two of us and two other ladies!Our guide Darcio,he was so good of the history of Azores!We learned so much of the cultural & history of the inland!And the lunch and all the stops he brought us to were amazing! Wine & cheese tasting with a gelato yummy ice cream at the end! Highly recommend this tour and ( Darcio) for your guide! He also took some great photos for us!

Absolutely magnificent! Unbelievable views, truly! We are so glad we did this tour, was awesome, definitely recommend while visiting here!! There is very steep stairs and some small holes to fit through, but if you decide not to do it that’s fine too. You can just look around without completely doing whole cave! Definitely would recommend this to all! Nit sure if ok fir very small children though. Great day!
10. Terceira Island in two days!
This package is the most complete option to visit Terceira island! This tour includes areas south, east, center and north of Terceira island. We will have the opportunity to see empires, centuries-old churches, bays full of history, visit to one of the only two volcanoes that can be visited in the world - Algar do Carvão -, a smoking field, visit to the Biscoitos wine area, view of the largest islands in the Azores and even a patchwork… well, let's say it's a crater but you will agree with us! It also includes a visit to the Whale Museum and fishing port, observation of the making of a piece of clay made by hand in a pottery and stop at a viewpoint to observe three other islands of the central group. We stopped at a local restaurant for lunch. The second day will start with the trail of the Black Mysteries for an average duration of 2.5 hours in the center of the island. After the trail we will go to the Lagoa das Patas area, where we will have a picnic, in a moment of relaxed interaction in the heart of the Azorean nature.

Melissa is simply the best. She is super attentive, thorough, take her time with you, very knowledgeable and overall a pleasant person. I did ZEN hike with meditation in the end, I have never meditated before, Melissa walked me through that experience and I will be back and will do it again. It was relaxing experience, with work out, leaves you peaceful and full of energy. You will not regret using this company!!! Simple excellent !!!
