This tour combines some of the lesser known countries in the Balkans; Albania, Macedonia, Kosovo and Montenegro, by trying to show the best each of these countries offers. Albania offers a mixture of cultural elements with 3 UNESCO World Heritage Sites and a rich archaeological legacy. Macedonia offers some of the most excellent religious relics, with Ohrid having the biggest Icon museum in the region as well as many beautiful churches. This theme is carried over into Kosovo the newest state in Europe, where we combine religious monuments with tasting of wine and local foods. The Tour will end up in Montenegro which has made a name for itself based on its wild natural beauty.

I can't thank our tour guide Adam enough for giving us a fun filled day from start to finish. If you are lucky enough to get him as your tour guide you will agree with me that he is one interesting man on this planet! He went above and beyond, even making additional pit stops. He showed us so much in one day that would of easily taken us two to three days to do. The tour exceeded my expectations. I can't wait to do future day trips in other countries/cities with Albanian Express Travel and Adam!

It will will be a journey that will leave you hungry for more :) On this tour you'll have a chance to get in the roller coaster of time, flying back and forth thousands of years through Albania's history and culture. Its amazing to see how Albania has coexisted and triumphed in tragedy in the shadows of Titans of the time like the Roman Empire, Byzantines and Ottomans.

I have been on vacations many times with Albanian Eagle Tours in Turkey, Greece and Montenegro. This year because of Covid we chose to stay in Albania and visit the alps. We stayed at an alpin hotel in Boge for one night. The room was comfortable, on the top floor, with a beautiful view of the mountains and valley below. Next day we visited Lepushe, deep in the alps. The view, fresh air, fresh food from local farms, and a hike to a nearby waterfall were fantastic. I would recommend this trip very much. Thank you Albanian Eagle Tours.
Some days in the south will do good for everyone. That's what we tell each other when we're down. The south of Albania is indeed something exquisite. With Mediterranian beaches and the perfect climate, thousand old villages and towns and wonderful inner nature the 'land down under' will do good to body mind and soul

Pogradec lies on the shore of Lake Ohrid. Pogradec has an ancient history and numerous cultural, geological and natural documents. Archaeological excavations on the hill above the city have uncovered an Illyrian settlement dating to the 5th century BC, belonging to the ancient tribes of Desaret and possibly the Enkeley. Lin is a small peninsula on the west coast of Lake Ohrid, with a village where the houses are cut off from stone and brick. Korça is one of the favorite cities of Albania, because it has preserved the original architecture, because of the fresh air, the culture it displays and the gastronomy. Art and culture make you turn your eyes to every corner of the city. During your visit to Korça you will visit many other historical and cultural facilities. In the city of Korça you will also find traditional dishes that are specialties for the city. The many museums in the city describe cultural activity for centuries.

Albania Express Travel offers a different weekend for all those who want a weekend full of information, beauty and history. Tirana with its charm is the only city in Europe without an old town because the communist history, with the slogan, destroy everything old and build everything new is the reason but Tirana is the only city which offers a combination of cultures such as, it ottoman, communist and modern in a small area. Tirana with its 2000 sunny days makes this city, different. Sublime Ohrid is North Macedonia’s most seductive destination. It sits on the edge of serene Lake Ohrid, with an atmospheric old quarter that cascades down steep streets, dotted with beautiful churches and topped by the bones of a medieval castle. Traditional restaurants and lakeside cafes liven up the cobblestone streets, which in high summer can be very lively indeed. Visiting these two cities we guarantee that the fun and beautiful photos added to your social networks, you will get thousands of likes.

The Via Egnatia was a road constructed by the Romans in the 2nd century BC. It crossed Illyricum, Macedonia and Thrace, running through territory that is now part of modern Albania, North Macedonia Greece and European Turkey as a continuation of Via Appia. Starting at Dyrrachium (now Durres) on the Adriatic Sea, the road followed a difficult route along the river Genusus (Shkumbin), over the Candaviae mountains and thence to the highlands around Lake Ohrid. It then turned south, following several high mountain passes to reach the northern coastline of the Aegean Sea at Thessalonica. From there it ran through Thrace to the city of Byzantium (later Constantinople, now Istanbul). It covered a total distance of about 1,120 km (696 miles/746 Roman miles). Like other major Roman roads, it was about six meters (19.6 ft) wide, paved with large polygonal stone slabs or covered with a hard layer of sand.

Tucked away in a little visited corner of Europe lie Albania, is a charming and delightful country that few people know much about. For years Albania was a closed society, ruled by the iron fist of Communism, but since the end of the Cold War it has been showing curious travelers its many charms. The location of Albania between some of Europe’s most important empires has left them well endowed with a wealth of attractions from the Greek, Roman and Ottoman eras. The region is home to a wealth of old Turkish architecture which sits side by side with elaborately decorated Orthodox churches and from more recent times the civic buildings of Communist era, as well as impressive Roman ruins and well preserved historic towns. This part of Europe is also blessed with incredible scenery with imposing mountains, pristine lakes and traditional villages tucked away in pretty valleys.

I love a good walking tour! It's the first thing I like to do when arriving to town since it gets you oriented to the major history and then gives you ideas of stuff to see.. We packed so much into the tour. The Square, government buildings, sculpture, orthodox church and mosque - wow so cool, and lots of other little things we eyed up to go back and enjoy.. Rate this one an "A"!
