I'm a easy-going type of guide, so your trip's style is mostly based on you. Customize the tour how ever you want, but ofcouse with my local suggestions, if you agree. Ha Giang is a Hard-To-Reach destination due to the distance and the difficulty of the road. But with an experienced guide and well organized tour, its guaranteed for the travelers to have an enjoyable trip on the Northern Mountains of Vietnam.

Jude was awesome! The whole time we did the tour it didn't feel like we were walking with an audio recording. Everything went naturally and easily. Ever had that fantasy of walking around an ancient city discovering secret alleys, and nooks, and "searching" for the best coffee in town while having casual conversations about the history of said city and its ties to one of the world's best coffees with a local friend? That's how our tour was with Jude minus the searching part because he has already done the work for you! :) Hanoi is a charming city, hiding mysteries and secrets in it alleyways or 'fridge-like' houses while at the same time offering the best and strangest coffee experience you can have. Couple that with Jude's expertise and it's a coffee lovers dream come true.

The Ta Xua landscapes were stunning and the organisation was seamless. From the pick up in Hanoi, to the very charming and warm welcome at the homestay (very clean) to the great meals cooked along the way. We went for a 3D2N trek up to Ta Xua Mountain surrounded by Hmong and Thai ethnies. The trek was amazing but quite though so we ended up doing 2D1N, which was really great as we took 1 more day to explore the valley. We can highly recommand Zonitrip for any adventurous trek. In addition to the very well organised trip, we had an amazing time thanks to Zoni's kindness, attentiveness overall happiness. We will never forget this trip. <3 We highly recommand Zoni and the Ta Xua climb to anyone looking for off the beaten path, high energy experiences - you won't regret it.

I had a couple of emails from the guide before I arrived which was reassuring. I was picked up at the designated time of 0745 and taken to a Toyota Land Cruiser in very good condition. The trip turned out just to be got two but that was fine. Travel took 2.5 hours with the obligatory stop at a shop ( I gas been here already on an earlier trip. Arrived and taken to a covered towed boat which should have been for four but we had to ourselves. Was advised that feb to April this would be the case as thousands go in that period. We had the river to ourselves apart from a few locals and the ride through the beautiful scenery took an hour. The boat seats were metal so I was struggling to be comfortable at the end and glad to get off. From here we saw the first temple the first of many steps in stifling heat. It was at this point I decided to take the cable car to the pagoda and boy what a great section when I saw the steepness of the steps, uphill and distant in 40 degree heat. Cost me an extra 180000 but worth it. We then had lunch which was enormous and quite ok. Beer was 400000 Then we stated off to cable car - having thought I dodged the steps but no there were more. No queues fir cable car as quiet but told usually an hour wait each way. When we get off guess what more steps down to the cave which for me was hard work. The cave was beautiful and amazing to see, well worth the struggle. Then the way back the steps in the cave were slippy do have good shoes and the climb back up to the cable was hard but the guide went slowly without making me feel like I was holding the group back. Then back to the boat fir an hour back. I don’t like being told to tip but was recommended a dollar do I did only to be greeted with abuse from the rower who was demanding five dollars from us and quite nasty .. wish I hadn’t given her anything with that attitude. Then two hours drive back and in the hotel by 1700.

We chose Mr Linh's based on our friends' recommendation. The replies from the agent were prompt, and it was easy to make changes or ask questions. Our itinerary was fairly straight forward, and you can check all the accommodations as they provide an itinerary with links to hotels and homestays. Both our guide and driver were excellent. At all times we felt safe when Mr Long was behind the wheel. Mr Son was very knowledgeable about the area, and he also picked up quickly our favourite dishes and our average hiking/trekking speed. We did a 9D/8N trip, and had to do small changes along the way (like skipping motorbike riding as it was a rainy day going from Ha Giang to Dong Van, and then staying one extra night in Dong Van waiting for the rain to stop). The changes were not an issue to Mr Son. We had a small misunderstanding, but even that was duly noted and communicated to us. We went to places where there were no other tourists, and it was really wonderful to enjoy the fresh air, amazing sceneries, colourful tribes and see people at their daily chores. Our itinerary was Hanoi-Hoang Su Phi-Ban Phung-Ha Giang-Dong Van-Cao Bang/Quang Uyen-Ban Gioc Falls-Quang Uyen-Hanoi. To see the rice fields in full colour, I would suggest going latest early October. Around mid-October a lot of the rice had already been harvested, but still plenty being harvested by the locals, mostly women. I would strongly recommend Mr Linh's for travels to Northern Vietnam.

Located about an hour south of Hanoi is Hoa Lu in the Ninh Binh Province. Hoa Lu was the capital of Vietnam in the 10th and 11th centuries. There are two temples on the site, one for the first emperor of Vietnam, Ninh Bo Linh, and the other temple is dedicated to the second emperor, Lê Hoàn. The two temples are very similar with the temple dedicated to Ninh Bo Linh being slightly more elaborate. Temple of Đinh Tiên Hoàn is the temple dedicated to Ninh Bo Linh and is located on the grounds of former palace. Ninh Bo Linh defeated all of the other competing warlords to create the first imperial dynasty of Vietnam. The temple was built to face the river with the mountains behind it in order to create positive energy. As you enter the grounds of Hoa Lu, the Temple of Đinh Tiên Hoàn is to your left and the Temple of Lê Đại Hành is to your right. The Temple of Lê Đại Hành is dedicated to Lê Hoàn who was the head of Ninh Bo Linh’s army. When Ninh Bo Linh died, his son, Dinh Toan, was only six years old, so Lê Hoàn was named as his regent. There was a rebellion to try and overthrow Lê Hoàn’s authority, but he successfully defeated those who attacked him and he officially took control of the country and created the second imperial dynasty of Vietnam. Lê Hoàn also married Ninh Bo Linh’s widow and had two sons of his own. The history of Hoa Lu as the ancient capital of Vietnam is certainly quite interesting. Later, in the early 11th century, the capital of Vietnam was moved from Hoa Lu to what is now the city of Hanoi. Hoa Lu was the first stop on our tour of the Ninh Binh Province and we spent about two hours walking the grounds and visiting the temples.
