Hiking trails and art galleries abound in Stellenbosch, but it's wine that takes center stage. More than 100 wine cellars, most open to the public, surround the oak-lined South African town, and tasting tours operate daily. Winter brings a four-day festival celebrating the local vintages. The historic town center houses the trading-post style shop Oom Samie se Winkel, the Neo-Gothic Moederkerk church, and museums dedicated to toys, military memorabilia, autos and early life on the Cape.

Looking at the other reviews, staying in one of the separate guest cottages must be a better experience but staying in the 'manor house' was very disappointing. Hard to believe this is a 4 star establishment. The few positives were the lovely grounds and pool, and we appreciated Peter accommodating our last minute booking but other than that not great. Room was okay, but very small bed, no AC, noisy ceiling fan, bath plug didn't work, peeling paint on the windows.. The 'manor house' itself was bizarre - felt very neglected and unwelcoming. There were old mattresses lying in the passageway and the snooker room, which Peter suggested, has broken lamps lying across the snooker table and piles of old linen scattered around the room.. just weird. There are also 3 (lovely) ridgebacks who live on the property, but they barked incessantly until about 1am keeping us awake and the generator which came on during loadshedding seemed to be right outside our window and was extremely loud. For the price, definitely not worth it.

5 Minutes walk form the main Hotel building, at the Minserie Str House we have 3 semi self-catering apartments available. In keeping with the established standards which you would expect from Eendracht. The same - but totally different. The building is a 1928 listed house that was restored in its original Art Deco style. Please Note: Check-in is at the the Hotel at 161 Dorp Street. Last refurb in 2020.
The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The room was incredibly spacious and very comfortable. The location was amazing and is a 5-10min walk to most places in central Stellenbosch. Off-street parking was also available. The kitchen was also well equipped.

Warm white globes would improve the atmosphere in the evenings, could leave bright white globes for the work desk. The mirror window made the room brighter still. Otherwise the room was very comfortable and secure. The gardens were attractive and welcoming. The restaurant was great and staff were friendly.

We had a magical stay at the very friendly Knorhoek Guesthouse. We were greeted by Liezel who is so warm and friendly. We loved the sounds and beauty of all the peacocks. The breakfast was delicious and the linen also made for a very restful luxurious night sleep.

Situated a few minutes outside of the historical town of Stellenbosch, in the heart of wine country, lies Rouana Guest Farm. When you step onto the beautiful property, you are immediately transported to a time gone by when people lived closer to the earth, when things were less digital and you could see the fruits of your labour in the size of the harvest.
My husband and I stayed in this quaint guesthouse. Myvdsughter, husbandcandctwo kiddos stayed in a suite here as well. The suite was really lovely and perfect for them. Our toom was fine, simple but fine. Everything was clean and well kept. The kids swam in the pool. The grounds are beautiful and a friendly dog hangs around. I loved the common lounge area, with sofas, tea, coffee and fridge with milk, and even soy milk for me. Breakfast included eggs, tomatoes toasts, cereals, yogurts, fruits, meat for those who partake. The owners are extremely friendly, helpful and caring. Highly recommended. I woukd definitely suggest visiting Spier bird sanctuary snd not to far away, The San People hetirage and Education center for a tour, musrum and lunch.

We stayed to Molen Vliet for our friends wedding. We were overwhelmed by the views, tranquility and class of this estate. Every morning our breath was taken away by how beautiful this place was. It made for a spectacular wedding venue and the food was to die for. We plan to return one day with more of our friends and family.

The De Zalze Winelands Golf Estate comprises 300 hectares. It is a working wine farm along with fabulous fairways, olive groves, lavender fields and charming 'villages' of high quality, free-standing private homes and luxurious holiday lodges. The lodges were designed to complement the traditional Cape-style architecture of the Estate. The main features being white painted/plastered exteriors finished with grey sheet metal roofs. Most have generously spaced outdoor areas under cover. Windows and doors are made from choice wood and interiors combine luxury tiling, carpeting, kitchen and bathroom fittings. The lodge complex is located immediately alongside and adjoining the clubhouse of the superb De Zalze Golf Club, and fronts onto the 10th fairway of the course. No accommodation on the estate is located closer or more conveniently to the golf club. This affords easy and immediate access to a superb course and all the excellent facilities associated with a top-notch golf venue. The buildings are clustered around the reception and sales building, which looks out onto a magnificent swimming pool. For convenience, all administration and check-in procedures take place in this central area. Our 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom lodges respectively are suited to cater for any requirements. From single corporate accommodation to golfing, families, individual couples or groups of friends.
We were with our little daughter for the first time in this accommodation and are more than satisfied. The staff was always very friendly, helpful and courteous. The accommodation was always clean and very well furnished. The possibility to use a pool and to braai on the terrace have fulfilled our expectations to the fullest satisfaction. We will come back definitely.

The Laibach Vineyards Lodge offers five spacious appartements on a living wine farm in the Winelands just a few kilometers north of Stellenbosch.
We enjoyed a stop at the vineyard here for wine tasting and sampled 4 wines for R40 which was good value for the quality of wine and selection available. The estate offers a nice selection of regular and organic whites and reds as well as a sweet dessert wine. But the winner for us was the no-pressure approach, the information provided, and the spectacular vistas from the tasting balcony. We’d definitely recommended it.
