10 Cottages in Seychelles: Best hotel deals for 2023

May 2, 2023 Carley Gatson

Sailing, diving, fishing and relaxing are the main activities for visitors to the 115 islands of this Indian Ocean archipelago. Mahé, Praslin and La Digue are the most popular islands. Mahé boasts 65 silver beaches, plus an array of restaurants, cafés, bars and casinos in the tiny capital, Victoria. The Seychelles are home to UNESCO-designated sites, coral atoll Aldabra and Vallée de Mai, called the Garden of Eden. Creole is the main language, but English and French are widely spoken.

We are family of two adults and one child(13 years old girl), who spent 5 amazing days in Chalets D'ance Reunion, from 11.01.2022 to 16.01.2022. The location is perfect - just a minute from the main road with the restaurants and the stores, very close to the seaside. The houses are new built, with a beautiful, green garden. Thanks to Mohamed for arranged a bikes, for the fresh fruits and the perfect cleaning every day. Miss Nora also is very kind lady, who helped us with the taxi to pick up us from the Jetty and extended our check-out time to 14.00h. Next time when we visit La Digue, we definitely will stay again at Chalets D'ance Reunion. Recommend this place to every one! :)))

Bird Island, Seychelles

Bird Island is your gateway to the most unique private nature reserve and bird sanctuary in the Seychelles. We offer a blend of local hospitality, relaxation and simplicity in a natural environment. A 30 minute flight from Mahe by light aircraft gives the first stunning impressions of this private 101 hectare coral cay. Five kilometres in circumference, the east and south sides are surrounded by a protective barrier reef which is home to many varieties of colourful tropical fish and the rest is an open beach which offers superb swimming opportunities. The island features only a handful of self-catering villas, along with a shop and restaurant to cater to guest's needs.

Magical place deteriorating due to indifferent management

Reviewed By treasurepv

First, the positives. Bird Island is beautiful. The stars on a clear night are stunning, as are the turquoise fringed beaches with powder soft sand. Good snorkeling (almost all the coral is dead, however.) Tortoises abound. And the birds are so numerous they cannot help but inspire awe. But the hotel is poorly managed, and not because of the hard-working staff, like Darel (who brought us to see Esmerlda) or Sebastien, the great cook who took me on a snorkeling expedition. The problem is: there appears to be no-one in charge. And in fact, the owner/manager is in Mahe, 100 km away. You are handed a map when you arrive with things listed like the farm (which no longer exists), the viewing platform (now overtaken by a tree), information areas (ha!) and reception (which is not used.) So if you have a need or a question, there is no one in charge to ask. There were 11 guests the week we were there. 4 kayaks, 3 paddles to be found, which ant the family of 4 that held on to 2 kayaks and 3 paddles made it impossible for others to kayak. (Eventually we found 2 other paddles in a random spot -- but there was no one to ask. ) I eventually moved cabins because the internet didn't reach mine. I was delighted that the kitchen in the new unit had a microwave, unlike the first one. But unlike the other kitchen, had no ceiling fan, which made it pretty much unusable during the mid-day because there is no breeze in the middle of the island where the cabins are and it's HOT. I don't think this is intentional. There's just no one in charge of paying attention to things like: why are there not enough kayak paddles? Why does one kitchen have a ceiling fan and another one not? The owner, it turned out, flew in during our week. From talking to the other guests, I don't think he so much as said hello to any of us. He wouldn't even make eye contact with me or the friends I made on the trip. It's an expensive place to visit, about 425 euros a night, plus airfare. Their client base is down. But honestly, the looked past us las if we were bothersome insects. And I think this epitomizes the attitude of management towards guests. This place could be (and apparently once was) so much more. They're down from 30 staff to 10. Have someone who people can ask questions to. Perhaps provide a little shade. Make sure the cabins have the basic needs. Let people know what activities are available (there is no list, no presentation, nothing.) Maybe someone to occasionally ask you how your stay is going and if there's anything you need or any questions you have. Am I glad I went? Yes. It was beautiful. Would I go again? Not if it's run the way it currently is

Georgina's Cottage Beach Guesthouse

One of the best place to stay in Mahe!!

Reviewed By Soraya B

Let me start by just saying how lucky I was I got to stay here! The hotel is not luxury, it is a basic accommodation that includes a lovely and filling breakfast. So it is a budget accommodation. The air conditioning could definitely use some work, but the wifi was fantastic!! Of all the places I stayed in Seychelles (the others being somewhat fancier), this was the only location where the internet was good and clear. The reason I surmised that this was one of the best places to stay was because of how central it was to EVERYTHING! Literally right across the street is one of the best beach restaurants/bars in Beau Vallon, Beach Shack. The sunsets, music, and vibe was amazing! To the right of the guesthouse is a really good eatery, La Dolce Vita. To the left of the guesthouse is the bus stop heading to the south of the island - diagonal is the bus stop heading to the north of the island. Two other well-known restaurants/bars are literally about a 5- 7 minute walk- Baobab Pizzaria, and Boathouse. The covid testing clinic is inside the Boathouse restaurant, so you could quickly and easily get a rapid or PCR test. There is a little strip of vendors that is also within walking distance, and that is on top of the other great restaurants that line the street. I also loved that you could catch live music anywhere nearby, or get a local fisherman to grill his catch of the day for you! Everyone is so friendly. But the best part, Beau Vallon Beach is LITERALLY across the street. You don't realize just how lucky you'd be to stay here. Haha

Bois d'Amour

Enjoy the airy atmosphere of creole architecture; feel at ease in the shadow of an open veranda with polished wood under your feet and tropical birds and flowers in front of you. Or take your bike and cruise around the island, find amazing bays with white sand and turquoise waters - no need to hurry, nothing to organise... Slow down to the island rhythm. Widely spread in a large garden four half-chalets and one family bungalow offer you space and privacy and everything you need for a relaxed self-catering holiday. The kitchens are well equipped and you will find shops and restaurants within 50 metres. Or maybe you prefer to be served a delicious breakfast on your private veranda? With pleasure...

A forest garden house on a paradise island

Bois d'amour is really just like what you would expect from the other reviews! It is like a paradise: birds sing on your porch amidst the beautiful shady garden and you just smile! My wife and I stayed here back in November 2018 and although TA doesnt let you post old reviews anymore, I hope this will get through as I specifically went back to my pictures and notes to refresh my memories :) We communicated with Birgitt before coming and I was a bit sad that she was sick by the time we arrived and we had to mainly talk to her husband Alvis: he was pretty on point and informative but she was really really kind judging by our email communication! We stayed at two chalets (Kokoleo and Kokorouz), both of which were great and pretty similar. Obviously, lacking AC is not everybody's boat so there's that - but it wasn't a problem for us. I remember reading reviews about animals around but if people think this is a problem, rest assured that all is great in the house! The occasional gecko is outside and much more cute than everything you'd encounter back home. We were able to rent bycicles which were a bit old but adequate (maybe they've been updated since). Alvis arranged a boat trip for us for snorkeling, where we unfortunately sun burned pretty bad (rookie mistake) but it was otherwise great. He also helped us book the high view restaurant where a bus takes you, and I wholeheartedly recommend that! In terms of location, La Digue is really small and though the house is on the back streets, this is definitely a plus. Going to the famou

I'm a seychelloise who likes promoting things that are good, keep up the good work guys, im really impressed.. why going in big hotels when you have felicie cottage and everything under one roof.. The only 2 negative points are.. dogs bark at night with neighbour's, and its a little bumpy road to reach there but that's not a problem at all.. but that didn't ruin my vacation..

We stayed here for four nights. Jane who worked at reception helped us feel at home. She arranged car rental for us, gave us kayaks and life jackets to use for free and even gave us some bananas for breakfast (it is self catering). They had great kitchen facilities, including a coffee maker! The beds are comfy. The water from the shower was always hot! The apartment was clean and such a good price. We were right by the beach. The cottages are quiet and they provide sun loungers and a shower to use outside after going to the beach. They allowed us to check out late on our final day as our flight wasn't until 5pm, no extra cost. Seychelles is a beautiful place and staying here made the experience even more so! Good location for the beach and right next to a mini mart which was handy for getting water.

Just returned from our stay in Seychelles and we were overwhelemed at the kindness of the owner Lise preparing dinner for us. When I say dinner this was by far the best meal we had during our time in Seychelles and Lise made it really special as we celebrated our engagement! The accomodation is clean, comfortable and situated in a beautiful spot surrounded by nature. After a day exploring we really enjoyed jumping in the pool to cool off! Lise also gave us a detailed list of recommendations which we followed and had a wonderful time. Special mention to Alamine the guy helping to clean and take care of the accomodation, he was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Seriously missing island life and we hope to return at some point !
