Laid-back Ella draws travelers to Sri Lanka's highlands with its mountain forests, tea plantations, and relatively cool climate. The wildlife-rich region is also home to caves, cascades, and secluded temples—plus the Ella Gap, which offers lofty views between a cleft in two hills.

This is the one of the best place i have ever visited. Good self sustainable food. Home grown organic fruits, vegetables and rice. Amazing food. Very caring staff. Very good environment. Middle of jungle. So many activities and bonfire and candle light dinner. Simply amazing. Highly recommend. Good for everyone.

We stayed at the Ella Tunnel Corner Inn for 4 nights and loved every second. The couple that run the property are so kind and accommodating - nothing was too much trouble. From the complimentary tea and chocolate cake on arrival to breakfast before departure, everything was great. The location is very central for the shops/restaurants and Ella Train Station. What really sets this place apart is the speed of the WiFi. We have been travelling around Sri Lanka for nearly a month and never had as good as connection as we had here. Thank you for an incredible stay - we hope to return!

Need an affordable accommodation to stay while in upcountry that feels like home? Stay at Ella Green Cottages, where your comfort is our concern. Our cottages are simply the best place to stay in. We are just a kilometer away from the famous Rawana falls and other tourist destinations where you can treasure the best of your time in Ella, Sri Lanka.
We rented the family cottage with 5. Rooms are simple and clean. The people that run this family business are very friendly. They provide the most copious breakfast and the lunch we ordered was the best local meal we had in Sri Lanka (the served 7 kinds of vegetables, 2 kinds of meat, 2 kinds of rice and much more)!

Surprisingly nice place in the jungle, outside the bustling Ella with amazing views of the surrounding hills. You can watch the jungle life right from the room's terrace. Room with basic equipment that was perfectly adequate and great food.

Jewel!! It's much more than you pay for. Especially the host, Ishara. He is honest, humble, friendly and always available to help with anything. He arranged scooters, transport and even offer free rides to the center/taxi post for transfer to mirissa. Also present us will welcome drinks and fruit. The breakfast was delicious too! The rooms were very clean and spacious. I hope we can move his business forward in the coming times..he and his mom truly deserve it! If you are reading this..congrats from the truly impressed portuguese couple ??

I stayed here for 5 extraordinary days.....Sunil, the host, his wife and two sons they are good, beautiful and special people. Every day spent here was like a holiday in paradise. Sunil is an excellent guide and knows the whole region very well, we were together in some beautiful places that are hard to find even on the map. In terms of accommodation, if you like peace and nature, this is the ideal place. Nice room ,cabana style, nice bed, and the view from the room and terrace was stunning. So....From taking me to see all the sights, and preparing me with the most delicious home cooked food you can imagine, they really made this trip for me. Not to mention, the little self contained room and bathroom has everything you could need with a great dining spot over looking the valley. Perfect for sunrise brekkie and sunset dinner. I will definitely be back here.....

We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at Amila's. The place is a pleasant, 25-30 minute walk along the train tracks (itself a fun adventure, and part of the normal walk to Ella rock) or a 400-500 rupee Tuk Tuk ride from Ella town. His home is located on a quiet hillside tucked in his garden full of coffee, banana, and papaya trees. The rooms have covered decks that are perfect for taking breakfast or enjoying a beer in the evening. The breakfast provided is copious and delicious. We loved watching the birds and the squirrels in the mornings. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable. His wife can provide a tasty, home-cooked, Sri Lankan meal, without so much chili if desired---for 800 rupees per person. Amila's family is lovely and will do everything they can to ensure you have a pleasant stay. We had excellent communication before our stay, and he picked us up from the bus in a nearby town, and helped us to the train station as we left. Highly recommended!

We loved our time at Saddle Cottage. The host and his family were welcoming and accommodating and his young daughter had even made a handwritten guide on what tourist attractions to do in Ella. Breakfast each morning was plentiful and delicious and the rooms were immaculate and with everything we needed including a hot shower, a fan etc. Location was great. We could walk into Ella town along the railway track and the view was beautiful. Definitely recommend!
