The water around Ishigaki is pure blue, with white sandy beaches to soothe your senses. But don't just stand on the beach and stare. Travelers recommend a ride in a glass-bottomed boat to gaze at the coral reefs and tropical fish from above.

Unexpected large room with three beds provided, actually it was small bungalow and car can parking just outside door, best choice with whole family to enjoy the holiday, homemade breakfast was very delicious, only thing you need to consider was the location, but if you were driving, it was not a problem at all.

I immediately tried to cancel this hotel when I checked in. It is NOT a hotel. It is just an air bnb room with awful molded smell and staffs have very rude attitudes, and it cost us around $300 night without any lobby boys serves you, bring baggages to the room. I tried to call hotel front and explained this was unexpected, almost fraud, scam, showing us fake photos though they kept saying that they never would pay me back our cancellation fee. I finally contacted Expedia and explained and they arranged no cancellation fee, but not for the amount of the day we checked-in. They never apologized, never changed the attire, and I strongly suggest that you should AVOID this air bnb room, oops i mean "hotel" in their definition. Never go back.

This place isn't your typical hotel. It seems like it used to be an apartment complex. There is a front desk and elevator but when you get to the floor it's pretty narrow and set up like an apartment. Some of the rooms have a washer/dryer combo unit in the room. All the functions are in Japanese so you may need some assistance if you can't read kanji. This helps since the major attraction on Ishigaki is swimming. There is a stove top in the room as well, but we never used it. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk to the center of town where there are a lot of places to eat at. This hotel is also about a 7-8 minute walk to the bus terminal. The terminal has buses that go to the airport on a regular basis and about the same distance to the ferry port. The port has ferry's going to all the different islands in the area. The A/C unit didn't really cool the room too well, but then again we weren't in the room most of the day. Parking at this hotel is very limited and narrow. You need to register with the front desk.

Le Lotus Bleu is in an old traditional Japanese house, with 5 rooms, in the quiet and well-preserved village of Shiraho on Ishigaki island, 200m from the beach and the lagoon, well known for its blue coral reef. The house itself is about 500sq meters, with a lot of common spaces on first floor, terrasses and garden. It was moved from Hida Takayama, so it is the only house in Ishigaki with that strong Japanese style. We do yoga classes, massages and excursions on Ishigaki island, so you can discover Ishigaki natural beauty, and reconnect with yourselves through relaxing activities. Our rooms are for 2 to 6 people. It is possible to book the complete house for your group. Minimum stay is 3 nights, kids under 10 are not allowed. Please read carefully explanations on our website before booking.
We stayed for 4 nights in July and we were for the most part in a typhoon. Therefore we did not get to see the sea at it's best. However once you accepted the situation, it was quite a dramatic experience getting caught up in the deluge! The villagers were very kind telling us which eateries were open, as many close up in the typhoon. We were able to have massage and yoga classes at the Lotus Blue which made up for not being able to go to the beach. We explored Ishigaki City which was a bus ride away and it had a charming covered shopping street to while away the time, where we bought souvenirs. On our last day, Patrick, our host took us on a tour around the island and we enjoyed the wild nature of the northern coast and the serene Kabira bay where we took a touristy glass boat ride, which turned out to be very entertaining, due to the hilarious excitement of the captain of the boat and we saw a giant turtle and clown fish, despite the visibility being a bit murky due to the weather. The trip was well worth it and we had lunch and the best soft serve fresh ice cream on the way back. Before we departed, we visited the Sunday market in the village and they sold some delicious local foods, I recommend the purple potato and banana crepe! The House was very serene and the rooms at the inn was very spacious and comfortable. Patrick and Maiko were great hosts and we were sad to leave the idyllic village of Shiraho.
