You’ll find plenty of orange trees here, but the fruit known as the "Valencia orange" was actually developed in California. Travelers interested in local food should focus on paella instead. While the city contains many monuments, Valencia’s modern crown jewel is the City of Arts and Sciences, a futuristic complex of museums, cinemas, theaters, and more.

Its sweeping architectural style, complex engineering, and state of the art technology are just some features of what makes this 21st Century artistic space stand out in its mission to enhance art and culture while bringing them closer to the public. The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, a majestic structure designed by the Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava, should be seen as an impressive monument, a vast sculpture with great symbolic meaning. Since opening on 8th October 2005, the building has become an international point of reference synonymous with the Comunitat Valenciana. the guided tour is by far the best way to see this incredible building, €8 per person is value even for someone as tight as me. my wife and i loved it, we are not opera people and have only ever seen 2 live performances but even so you can't help but be amazed by the whole thing, the female guide was excellent speaking fluently in 3 languages and answered any questions we had, in my opinion this is a must see for anyone in Valencia
