I came here from Edinburgh on 3rd February for the Boyzlife (support 'Katie Kittermaster') concert, and was immediately welcomed into the venue. The front of house usher was very friendly, directing me where to go and ensuring that I was aware of anything necessary. They made all the adjustments for others that you could possibly ask for, and were accommodating. During the concert itself, the staff were very lenient but firm when they needed to be (and given the type of concert that it was, unlike many others), this is something I imagine they needed to take into consideration greatly. Presentation-wise, it's clear that they care greatly; the toilets were spotless, the venue itself was immaculate, and they made good use of the function room afterwards for the merchandise stalls. I had absolutely no issues here, and was happy with the service I received.

A truly unforgettable cultural experience: the pieces are rich with symbolism and the accompaniment of music, lights and movement turned it into a performance that was both touching and entertaining. The gallery manager was enthusiastic and informative in his explanations on the art pieces; and he was attentive and professional in regards to all the measures put in place for Covid-19 safety. I would definitely recommend Sharmanka to anyone looking for a cultural experience in Glasgow!

Britannia Panopticon Music Hall

Britannia Panopticon is the worlds oldest surviving music hall. It opened in 1857 above a pub called the Britannia Vaults and it served the working classes who made Glasgow the Industrial Capital of the World. For over 80 years Britannia entertained, and in addition to being a music hall, the building also accommodated early cinema, wax works, carnival amusements, freak show and basement zoo. Famous debut performances include Stan Laurel in 1906 and Jack Buchanan in 1911. Open Tuesday-Saturday noon-5pm (unless a show is programmed) for general viewing. Britannia Panopticon is also open for music hall shows, silent movie and Laurel & Hardy film nights, marts, festivals and other events. Admission is generally free (we charge to get out). Please donate when you visit to help us raise money to conserve this wonderful historic survivor from the heyday of music hall and early cinema. Britannia Panopticon is also available for private hire (conditions apply).

Old Fruitmarket

Reviewed By JoanneMcT - Darlington, United Kingdom

My husband got me tickets for Brittany Howard at The Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow so we could make it a weekend trip and what a place to go for a gig! You walk in the doors of what looks like a modern civic centre then through a door into an old wooden auditorium made from old fruit market stalls, it looks amazing and the acoustics for Brittany's voice was just amazing! Loved it and I would put it up there with Barrowlands for one of the top places for gigs!

Went to see Arun Gosh during the Glasgow Jazz Festival and was blown away by the care and attention put into creating this venue. Decor and ambience tasteful with a slight jazz decadence feel. The staff are most attentive. The sound system is first rate. It was cash only on our list which is worth being aware of as there are often queues for free ATM's in Sauchiehall street. We will be back to see some local talent.

Enterteasement

Monthly comedy, magic, burlesque show featuring 'As Seen On TV' comedians, international burlesque acts and award winning magicians. Perfect if you're looking for a good night out that's a little different. Show on the second Saturday of the month.

Reviewed By NJMacEwan - Glasgow, United Kingdom

My husband & I first went to Enterteasement around 7 years ago & have been back most months since then. The night is a great mix of magic, comedy & burlesque and for around the same price as a cinema ticket, you get an fantastic evening that is different every time plus the chance to win amazing prices at the raffle. The staff are all lovely - they give the night such a friendly & welcoming atmosphere. No wonder we (and several others) keep going back. If you’re in Glasgow the 2nd Saturday of the month, come along & see for yourself. You won’t regret it.
